@JubioHDX4 ай бұрын
@@marvelous971-j6m Theres not any substantial proof of that, nothing was written down back in those days but language almost certainly existed, theres no way to tell how they were talked about or treated. Yes there was some crossbreeding, but even in incredibly racist societies modern humans had and have interracial relationships with discriminated against groups as well. Theres plenty of reason to believe that warring and killing happened just as often as breeding did as well, its not like every neanderthal either died of old age, disease, or hunting accidents, theres multiple specimens that have been found that were very clearly killed by other hominins. And given the history of homo sapiens as a whole (with there never being a year in recorded history without a war), that implies that fighting over territory and resources mustve happened, because either we wouldve started it ourselves, OR neanderthals were also keen to fight over similar things, which would also lead to fights with homo sapiens in retaliation if neanderthals ever started it. Basically, theres no proof at all they were treated better, or even worse for that matter. They were likely treated the same. Just another rival tribe, whod they both fight and kill or sleep with depending on the given scenario in which they met

After reading a book ,,Who We Are and How We Got Here" by geneticist David Reich I remember him positing that Neanderthals actually were likely very similar in terms of cognitive function to us but due to lacking the FOXP2 gene which codes for a CNS transcriptional repressor resulted in them having limited communication abilities which significantly impacted social cohesion. The hypothesis was somewhat corroborated by a study in mice where the gene having analogous coding function to FOXP2 was modified or silenced, they displayed behavioral differences such as making odd sounds and miscommunicating their needs. I've heard recently this has been called into question, but interesting hypothesis nontheless.

@jw-nz2vx3 ай бұрын
In larger groups you tend to be able to divide labor more, which leads to more specialization. Over time I'm sure that gender roles sprung forward from that, as the different genders proved to be better suited (on average) to certain tasks. As the video says, Neanderthals tended to live in smaller family units as compared to humans of the time, possibly owing to their comparatively less advanced communication abilities.

The idea that an omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent, omnibenevolent god that created homo sapiens in his image after millions years of evolution didn't make sense to me. It is quite obvious on the other hand that we homo sapiens invented gods in our image. Just read these religious text and you would smell the stench of human ego. If we would have gotten extinct and neanderthals would have survived. Hominins are a group within the hominids (great apes). Hominins include the genera Homo, Australopithecus, Paranthropus, Sahelanthropus, etc. But it excludes the pannin (chimp) lineage. Homininae (the hominins) are a subgroup within hominidae. Hominidae also includes chimps, bonobos, gorillas, orangutans, and their respective fossil lineages. It goes like this: Primates > Hominids > Hominins > Homo So all hominins are also hominids. It's just an extra layer.
