I suffered an NDE as an agnostic. I returned to consciousness after a vivid encounter with Jesus in the sky above the hospital. The doctors convinced me it was all a dream and did not disclose the seriousness of my condition. I became a full fledged Christian when I got the bill for the copay for an adrenaline injection. The full length story is incredible, hence I am accustomed to being disbelieved.

And I'm not referring to the OP's agnosticism, but the fact that lying automatically means that they would be aware that what they would be lying about is untrue. And if they believe that He exists, then how or why would someone 'lie for Jesus', when Jesus Himself hates lies? Where is the rationale behind that? At the very least, the OP either believes his experience was real, and significant enough to change his whole life, or they don't believe in Jesus, and are trolling with a completely made up story. But there is no version where they both believe and are also lying, or where they are 'lying for' someone they do not believe exists.

For 2 months Ive been experiencing a severe existential crisis and severe thanatophobia. This caused my to loose sleep. I would fall asleep and wake up every 30-45 minutes during the night. I would cry in the shower, I would cry talking to my mom about it. I talked about it multiple times with my dad, mom, grandma, brothers, and my sister. They comforted me a little but I struggled to be happy with the thought. Dang. This is all temporary, we have no purpose and we are only alive just to suffer and die. After a while I noticed I started to loose weight and etc. After I found this channel. It has been helping me to regain some type of hope. I hope and have faith in an after-life. I am praying for you right now for God to place a hedge of protection around you at all times. read Philippians 4:6-7. recite the Lord's prayer and psalm 23 and pray for protection. Give thanks for all your simple blessings, even all the parts of your body that work. when I first became a Christian it happened in my home and I wasn't ready to go to church. I didn't understand then that I was subject to the arrows of the enemy and almost went crazy from anxiety. once I learned to pray against it and rebuke stupid thoughts in Jesus' name, I began to feel better. if your mind gets the best of you, listen to positive podcast and, audio Bible. He has published over 100 articles about NDEs in peer-reviewed medical and psych journals. Don't fear death, embrace it. It will come at some point for all of us. And when it comes, life will be nothing more than a dream. I think that's what happens when someone finally fades away... there is a moment of panic, desperation, their life "flashing before their eyes". But I think people, when they finally reach that point where they let go and realize death is inevitable, they know that it's over and they feel like life was almost like a long dream coming to an end. I would try to live the best I could in my final days, so that I can let go peacefully. Right now, I can't do that, I feel like I have so much left undone. But I think this is why people on their deathbeds confess to all kinds of things, and want to tell people so much. They're trying to make things right, so that it's easy to let go. I was comatose for 15 days, my vision lasted 11 months. Neurologists say the right hemisphere is responsible for spirituality. I had a highly conscious experience without my right hemisphere. No doctor I've met can explain it to me. What I experienced wasn't medical, it was purely spiritual.

Another possible explanation as to why some don't recall having an NDE is because of memory loss as a consequence of brain swelling related to cardiac arrest. I was getting an angioplasty done lying on a table and was awake watching the monitor when all of a sudden I was somewhere else standing in a light I didn’t know it at that moment but I was having an NDI I have no doubt we live after we die. No doubt. I felt and saw a light that was indescribable powerful loving bright but didn’t hurt your eyes it was in all around all and I felt fantastic. It was thicker than our light it felt like emotion love beauty etc. I saw no people or heavenly beings. I just stood in the light then began to move forward then I was back on the table my heart had stopped for 8 minutes. The male nurse said...did you see anything? I couldn’t answer I was so filled with the pain and anxiety of my own body. We live after death I have been there.

And honestly, for me God is very much a cooping mechanism, but I frankly don't care you think, until you experience a near death experience you won't truly understand the implication of this reality. i had a horrible drug experience once, I felt what I can only describe as extreme existentialism. It's shaped me to who I am, obviously it was traumatic and led to mental issues, but honestly throughout the experience I started to realize my meaning in this world. How do these NDEs mean/show/prove physicalism isn't true? Cells in the brain remain alive for up to 8 hours or more after someone is declared dead. Those cells can be extracted and cultured and kept alive for days. If those cells are where those dream like experiences take place then they can continue to experience and remember those dreams. So if the person is somehow 'brought back' from the brink so to speak, the cells which never died will retain the memory of any dream like experiences they might have had.

The part that remained was sufficient to produce consciousness. Let me know if there is another case. In fact they figured out that it wasn't that he just had 2%, but that his entire brain was compressed into that space and as more space was available it expanded to 80% of normal brain size.

I remember in grad school learning about the anencephaly patient and the patient with only a thin layer of brain. I accept the soul exists, but still confused how the thin layer brain patient could function. Would be interesting to find out more

I also think an immaterial soul might exist. As for the people who barely had any brain and yet could still function normally to some degree, I would attribute this to the brain's ability to integrate the functions from missing areas/components into the remaining ones. At the medical school, we used to call it "cortical compensation" (I don't know if that's the proper translation in english). Just an example, if you remove someone's cerebellum, he/she will trouble with motor control and balance, which is expected when you remove a part which is heavily involved in those processes. However, as time passes, their brains will re-wire and will integrate the functions of the missing cerebellum somewhere else in the brain, and therefore they will no longer have motor disabilities. I think people who barely had any brain and yet were able to function quite normally are partly due to the cortical compensation/re-wiring of integrating functions into the very little brain left. They provide an opportunity to show how amazing our brains are while also challenging the materialist view of consciousness as being an emergent property of complex nervous systems. God bless!

In my example I was a child who could recall memories before I even had the ability to retain such memories. When I was 6 months old I can remember my mother washing me a specific way that nobody told me about. I asked my father about it and he said that's exactly how she washed me. I have various other memories like this that people say should be impossible for me to have.

@@MyWatchIsEnded when I was studying neuropsychology, we noticed a correlation between premature birth and a lack of fetal amnesia, which is why I asked. It wasn't enough to get a study off the ground, but we also a few cases of fetal memory among some people with ehlers-danlos and a few other conditions. studies back then required a much narrower path of investigation, but I always thought there must be some commonality among people who lack fetal amnesia. Some even reported remembering being born and being in utero. obviously we couldn't verify the in utero memories, but the birth memory candidates were correct about some details that their parents were incorrect about in their retelling, which you can understand was a pretty exciting concept. Even after 30 years, it's still a mystery and one that needs further study and documentation.

I had an NDE in July of 2021. I had a 3200 pound safe fall on my back. It was on my back for about a minute before the construction crew pulled me out from under it. I did not receive pain meds until long after I woke up on the floor. I remember taking the first breath after they pulled me out, that's when I came back to life, and that's when it hurt. The pain was immediate upon regaining consciousness in my body. I was conscious somewhere else while I was under the safe, and it was GREAT.

I looked around and I could see three men standing near me talking to each other but I couldn't hear what they were saying. (I couldn't see any facial features or anything they were just silhouettes.) I looked at the figure in the middle and he said something along the lines of " you're not done yet, there's more work to do". I was confused and said "what?" And that's when I took that first breath. I can't really overstate, how comfortable it was with them there. It was a hundred degrees in that building, the guys who were saving me, were yelling and on the phone with 911. I was totally at ease, until I woke up in pain, gasping in the heat.

I've had one when I nearly drowned as a kid (before I knew anything about christianity, I only knew God existed and my mom used the word jesus a lot in a building where people went to go shout and sing, i did not understandanything beyond that at the time), I shot out, and looked at my face, my eyes were open then closed as I felt pain of drowning and lack of air once as I got farther and farther from my body, afterwards I floated slowly out of the water of the pool I was in into the sky looking down (drowning is painful, lasted about a searing minute before I shot out, wouldn't recommend dying that way, after the initial pain when you go out of your body though, it's all calm). I rose gently as if something behind me I couldnt see was raising me up and something like limbs (hands or arms?) Underneath whatever I was in that state lifting me up, and there was a gentle whooshing that rose in speed and light behind me shining brighter abd brighter behind me, but I thought to whatever it was "I havent lived life yet, please if you are God or sent by the God, please ask the God to save me, I'll make my mom and family sad if I die now.", as soon as that happened, I stopped and hovered quite a few meters above the pool area and could see my cousin suddenly noticed I had drowned and she jumped in the pool, my aunt was freaking out and screaming, my brother was scared and got out the pool and my siblings looked on. I saw everything and even heard them talking and freaking out as my cousin pulled me out of the water, it got fainter the higher I went though. I couldnt feel anything really, but I did feel like I was ok In that state, not sure if this is too subjective fictional or romanticized for this scientific audience here to stand to read lol, but that's the best way I can explain the feeling, I felt ok, but that was about it. My cousin pulled me out and did CPR and Mouth to mouth resuscitation, once that happened I was moved over, the whooshing stopped, and I got shot down, or lowered down fast into my body on the side of the pool, and shot open my eyes (as if I just woke up from an intense sleep). And spit open water in pain in my chest, nose and head. My eyes were blurry at first but cleared up after a second. The whooshing and light I heard and saw around my vision border for a minute or two, i think i asked one if they said something I heard in that state and they said they did say that. I am def in that 80%, we are def not just physical things, idk if we are a collective amount of coded or imprinted light, energy or what, but we def can exist outside of the physical body. Ever since then, seeing what people would call spirits for a good while as a kid, I could see events that happened in the past, i show what people call shadow people daytime in darker parts of a building or such, and night time sleep paralysis for awhile, could hear voices for awhile (when I'm delirious I can still make out people talking even when I home alone, and I understand they are talking about something, but as an adult probably weighed down by lots of stuff now mentally as presuppositions, I can't make out exactly what they are saying, some are laughing with each other, sometimes talking formally, sometimes I'll be yelled at in my ears (usually when something bad is coming). It's rare I can make out and remember what was said to me now, especially in dreams, I dont consciously remember what was said, but I'll retain a strong desire to do what I think was being talked about or happening in vivid dreams that have meaning, really important ones I will remember and they will keep replaying mostly in my head for days while awake. Like I said, I know this is a more objective scientific comment section, so be easy on me lol, I'm just giving my experience.

Addendum: now as I said as I got older most of this stuff stopped happening after a few years of my early or late-early childhood, trauma from some of the after affects of stuff I saw caused some very unsavory, and embarrassing physical occurrences at night for a good while, most of the time now I'll get vivid dreams often, most I dont remember though, the awake sleep thing of voices happens sometimes, I've only been in a trance 2x after that occurrence (I didn't try to go into those trances they happened when I was older as a teen and I was praying or praising Yah. And what I saw was... Well...it may not be lawful to say. But if there is a creator, and I believe there def is. For those who are on that things side (hopefully it's not insensitive to call it a thing). Is gonna have a good time when they die, and that's all I'll say.

I don't think it's possible to argue that materialism can prove consciousness. Materialism tries to explain the brain through physichs and chemistry. Nothing more. If consciousness was created solely by physichs and chemistry, then free will cannot exist. Every decision you ever make will just be physichs/chemistry reacting to an outside "something". You can never make a decision if materialism is right, because by definition everything will be a physical reaction. Whenever you decide to do something out of the blue, like chose to turn on the TV instead of reading a book, you have made a conscious decision on your own with no outside influence. Also, thoughts aren't controlled by the outside, but by concscious experiencees. Atoms don't suddenly have epiphanies, because no outside influence made it happen. I'm not regarding science as false, but as narrowminded and not developed enough yet. Maybe it's better to say, that science isn't as experimental as it could be. Science is disregarding a lot of philosophy, emotions and things like it, because it doesn't follow set rules. Science needs to be better at describing subjective experiences, as what it is. Subjective. Materialism and most sciences are objective. How is objective knowledge, supposed to explain subjective experiences? That's why I believe there's an interaction between something conscious and the physical world. One not being able to exist in this world without the other. Kind of like yin and yang, but not in a buddhist way. Maybe the physical world, is the birth of a soul. When we are born, we are hardly conscious, not aware of our own existence, we can't fathom existence and death. Then as life progresses, so does the concious state of a person, and once death arrives, the conciousness is more evolved. If there's another place after life on Earth, that will be the beginning of something I like to call a "true consciousness". An existence not bound by science and physics. Everything is quite literally possible. We learn as we go, in this state of "true consciousness". Think of it as a new birth into a purely conscious existence. The ultimate level of existence. Now, I'm not religious, a scientist, a philosopher or anyone, who holds any merrit. I'm just a guy on the internet, thinking too much, though I definately believe in this theory I've discovered.

My experience was weird, i had a head on motorbike accident and it felt like i woke up out of a dream, its like when your dreaming than you hit the ground and wake up that's what it felt like but i thought i was dreaming that i crashed and it was just a nightmare, It felt like i was a complete different person that just had a bad dream, than i woke up out of a coma i had to get open heart surgery, I still wish it was just a dream 😅 what ever doesn't kill you makes you stronger i still play rugby even though i had alot of injuries rugby league saved me 💯💪🏾

In response to the entire series, I’d to know what you think (or anybody willing to reply) about the case of the Hogan Twins. They are conjoined twins connected at the head and share a brain or their brains are connected. They can see through each other’s eyes, can feel the sensation of touch on the other’s body and can “talk” to each other in their heads. With all that being said, they do seem to have distinct personalities. So do you think that helps the case for consciousness/the mind being separate from the physical brain or does their shared experience somehow diminish it? I think the fact that they seem to have different personalities despite having shared thoughts may suggest that they have two separate minds that happen to share a brain. Thus, they have a shared experiences but not necessarily shared perceptions.

Have you ever contemplated who is talking and who is listening when you are thinking? Or how do you access your memory of say what happened yesterday? How do I so vividly remember the day my son was killed? Seems we do not know how our minds work or I should say how our minds go about working. I'm 70 years old and remember much of my childhood, but I cannot imagine being one of those people who remembers every waking moment of their lives from an early age. Twins sharing a brain and thoughts as well. Can they hide thoughts from one another as well or is it an open door that cannot be closed?

I don't think it provides evidence for either though it certainly is interesting. Think of it this way, does having multiple personalities benefit either? Obviously not, it can be explained under all models of the mind. The conjoined twin part makes it a bit different, but to someone who thinks the brain creates the mind it is entirely possible that the brain created two minds. The only issue it really poses for the idea that the brain creates the mind is one of if the brain should be physically capable of having two separate minds that communicate at the same time, that is highly unusual but not impossible so I wouldn't consider it too important.

In regards to NDE, we don't actually know how general anesthesia works so it may be that patients do experience some level of consciousness. I wouldn't rule out consciousness being delocalised from the brain until we know more about how it works.

A common statement I've heard throughout this series is that neural correlates of consciousness are nothing more than correlations. Correlation is not causation, as you've said several times. If someone sticks a needle in my arm, I'm gonna feel pain. However, almost none of us will say the fact that my sensation of pain correlates with the needle being stuck in my arm is no more than correlation. We will most confidently say it is causation. So my question for IP (or anyone who cares to answer) is this: when does correlation amount to causation, and when does it not? What kinds of correlations can we justifiably attribute to causation, and what kinds can't we?

Well for one while the brain and consciousness are connected no doubt about that the reason why some people suspect consciousness and the brain is correlation is because as this video and the whole series suggests is that there is good reason to believe that consciousness can continue even after the brain stops functioning. As sam parina's research has shown people can accurately hear conversations that occurred minutes after their heart had stopped and eeg studys have shown that around 20 seconds of the heart stopping the brain "flatlines." So if people can be conscious even without brain activity it makes no sense to say brain activity creates consciousness if Consciousness can continue without brain activity.

Consider it a spiritual experience, if God won't be knocking at your door, the devil would. In places where Jesus is competing against local pagan deities, it is expected for these pagan deities to try and capitulize on near death experiences for more worship and faith. Additionally, the experience itself could probably be an attempt to 'eat' their souls.

Oh, I doubt it's demons. The devil was given power on Earth, but my guess is that he has no power at all in the afterlife (unless one is delivered to hell). Most likely God communicates with those souls in a way they will understand as peaceful and trusted. Later I'm sure that they would become aware of the truth, but during an NDE they are very early in the separation process, and confronting them with the full truth isn't the goal. In my mind God would want to ease them gently into understanding the situation.

And when they placed a shoe on the ledge, it was clearly visible from the hospital room, PROVING CLARK HAD EXAGGERATED AT LEAST PART OF THE STORY. Here’s the topper. There is no record of Maria being in that hospital. Sixty years ago, Dr. Wilder Penfield, a neurosurgeon, poked around the right temporal lobe of some epileptic patients and discovered that they would hear heavenly music, relive their pasts in 3D, and have out-of-body visions. Similar experiments continue. There is Dr. Melvin Morse's discovery of "a portal" in the brain that when stimulated, triggers a NDE. This is a purely anecdotal dan you could believe it or not. I have an uncle that could 'see' ghosts and spirits. I dismiss him as delusional once, but i probably could turn agnostic about it now. So the story is that my eldest uncle died, a while after that, my 'spiritually awake' uncle told my aunt that 'he wanted the cross he used to pray with burned with him'. My aunt actually was confused because she never knew that my uncle prayed with a cross. Well, until she cleaned up his old bedroom and found... a cross under his bed.

InspiringPhilosophy, toward the end of this video, you ask, if the brain is necessary to form your soul, develop your personality, and to create memories so as to give you a physical experience, how could this still occur after death when the brain ceases? You explain how recent studies demonstrate that the brain performs quantum information processing, and you are held together through entanglement; so when your physical brain stops, you disentangle from it and can continue on without it. But, if your brain is necessary for forming memories, how can those who have NDE's form memories of those experiences, considering that the tool used to form memories has ceased functioning? It would seem, then, that the brain is not necessary for the creation of memories.

I was born a few weeks after my grandfather passed away. And so while I was growing up a picture of my grandfather was in the hallway and my mother always said I would kiss the photograph on their way to drink coffee in the morning. When I learned to mumble words my mother said I would say ‘I’m your baby papa’ My brother who is 10 years older then me would say this to my grandfather because he would always ask him ‘who’s baby are you’ And the part that still freaks me out is that we use to have a Coca Cola phone in the back room and my mother walked in on me talking on it and so she thought I was playing telephone you know being a kid playing pretend and so she asked me who are you talking to And I said papa. And she freaked out is what she has told me. May I add I have not one single memory of this as I was to young to remember but I sincerely believe he got to met me and I got to met him maybe not in a physical sense but in a spiritual sense. I'm curious. As a Christian I believe the Bible teaches when you die you either enter into the presence of God (heaven) or are in an existence without God (hell). Throughout my life I always struggled with the validity of NDEs. Is death not instant? Is there a sort of waiting period after we die?

I’ve always sorta understood us to be judged by God and then either brought to heaven or sent to hell after His judgement. I don’t know if it has any biblical validity, and I just have some romanticized version of the judgement in my mind, but that’s what I think happens.

Melvin Morse reports that a 10-year-old boy had an NDE where he ENCOUNTERED A VIDEO-GAMING WIZARD who loved Nintendo. Karl Jansen similarly reports finding childhood NDEs THAT INCLUDE ENCOUNTERS WITH VIDEO GAME AND COMIC BOOK CHARACTERS. In a collection of pediatric NDEs published in 1990, Serdahely even found a case where A GIRL ENCOUNTERED A FAVORITE TOY DURING HER NDE - AN OLD STUFFED ANIMAL. They differ between people and cultures. Instead of a tunnel and angels, EAST INDIANS MAY DESCRIBE THE RIVER GANGES AND A PARTICULAR GURU. HINDUS WHO BELIEVE IN YAMRAJ, the Hindu god of death, EXPERIENCED MEETING HIM. A Hindu girl "died" AND WENT TO HEAVEN ON A COW. Would that mean western people will be riding cows to heaven? Jews who don't believe in Jesus or "hell", experienced meeting God as described in the Old Testament, while messianic Jews experienced God as Jesus. Any reports of Christians meeting Muhammad, or Muslims meeting the Virgin Mary, or Jews meeting Guru Nanak, if they exist, have not been publicized. Dr. Richard Eby had an NDE and allegedly Jesus told him he had to back, and that he (Jesus) would be returning (2nd coming) before he died permanently. BUT DR. The Mapuche people of South America and residents of Hawaii are more likely to SEE LANDSCAPES AND VOLCANOES, whereas NDEs in Thailand rarely involve landmarks, tunnels, or light. For Tibetans, light features more heavily AS DO ILLUSIONS OF REINCARNATION. Europeans and North Americans often visualize beautiful gardens; intriguingly the Kalai of Melanesia are more inclined to SEE AN INDUSTRIALIZED WORLD OF FACTORIES. An NDEr's subjective recollections can be attributed to many factors: THE NDEr's PSYCHOLOGY, PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, BACKGROUND, ETC., NOT JUST CULTURE. A TEXAN SAW BARBED WIRE FENCES IN THE AFTERLIFE. Micronesians describe LARGE NOISY CITIES WITH CARS AND SKYSCRAPERS. Drug addicts, alcoholics, felons (murder), suicides, hedonists, abusers, mean people, and gay people, have all claimed to encounter heaven. Strangely, people have claimed to enter some "hell" FOR THE SAME REASONS. EVEN THE INFAMOUS ADOLF HITLER HAS BEEN SPOTTED IN HEAVEN. Again, strangely, he's also been seen in some "hell". Contradictions abound. There are reports of bad NDE trips involving TORTURES BY ELVES, GIANTS, MONSTERS, etc. Some parapsychologists take these as evidence of the mythical places of various religions. Is the hereafter actually mining and refining raw materials needed to build castles, cars, barbed wire fences, computers, and skyscrapers? From where do they get this material and the tools? Not to mention the raw materials and tools needed to construct an ever increasing number of those cages and cubes in the Christian hell, as a few claim. Who builds those cages? And which of the variety of "hells" do you actually go to? Christian? Buddhist? Spiritualist? Hindu? Muslim? Some other one? The answer seems to be whichever one the experiencer has been exposed to, as Thai NDErs regularly claim to encounter LORD YAMA AND YAMATOOTS, COMPLETE WITH TALKING DECEASED ROOSTERS, and being sentenced to Buddhist "hell" for butchering and eating chicken, then reincarnated as birds. DOES THAT MEAN WESTERNERS WILL UNKNOWINGLY BE HEADING TO BUDDHIST "HELL" FOR EATING CHICKEN? Thai accounts state that butchers become lumps of meat in Buddhist "hell", so what then awaits Western slaughterhouse workers? Even in her rather homogeneous Western European clientele, Kubler-Ross could see the effects of early enculturation: " I NEVER ENCOUNTERED A PROTESTANT CHILD WHO SAW THE VIRGIN MARY IN HIS LAST MINUTES, YET SHE WAS PERCEIVED BY MANY CATHOLIC CHILDREN." But there also are some hard-to-explain differences, Melvin Morse says. BUT WHEN RESEARCHERS TRIED TO TRACK DOWN MARIA TO CONFIRM CLARK'S STORY, THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO FIND ANY SUCH PERSON OR ANYONE ELSE TO CORROBORATE THE ACCOUNT. And when they placed a shoe on the ledge, it was clearly visible from the hospital room, PROVING CLARK HAD EXAGGERATED AT LEAST PART OF THE STORY. Here’s the topper. There is no record of Maria being in that hospital. Sixty years ago, Dr. Wilder Penfield, a neurosurgeon, poked around the right temporal lobe of some epileptic patients and discovered that they would hear heavenly music, relive their pasts in 3D, and have out-of-body visions. Similar experiments continue. There is Dr. Melvin Morse's discovery of "a portal" in the brain that when stimulated, triggers a NDE. He writes that some are threatened by this, as the discovery makes the experience seem unreal. There’s growing evidence that the temporal lobe plays a huge role in creating NDEs. The only true expression of a persons will is the one which comes from their total restoration from evil and infirmity, which necessarily leads them to God. Putting any value in the choices of irrationally sick minds is akin to seeing the suicidal person on a bridge as revealing a rational and true expression of his/her will. No one seriously thinks that a suicidal person is making a truely free choice, because we see that irrationality and sickness has corrupted their thought process and that they are failing to see the true good that they are naturally aligned to. Just as with humanity, our finitude and spiritual immaturity makes us mere infants in the face of God. We are naturally inclined towards goodness as our final end but we are derailed by the follies of finitude.

As a 6 year old child, during a tonsillectomy, I found myself floating above the OR table. Around me, there were “curtains of beautiful floating colors.” This occurred in 1948 when tonsillectomy’s were performed under nasal drip ether. Later, I found out that in these procedures, they actually LOST children. It was very dangerous. I had no idea about NDE’s, BUT I DID NOT WANT TO COME BACK! I obviously wondered if it was a real NDE, many years later when I found out about them. I had it confirmed in a very strange way: As an adult in my 40’s, I went scuba diving in Hawaii. It was my very first time. I got separated from the other divers and the dive boat. I FOUND MYSELF COMPLETELY ALONE IN THE OCEAN! I could not see land or anything but water around me. This is by definition the most terrifying experience any person can have. I was not frightened. Not at all. While swimming around, I “heard” a voice telling me to “dip my scuba mask into the ocean and use it as a reflective mirror to signal for help.” I had no idea about the possibility that my mask face was reflective. It was my first (and only) dive. As I swam around viewing the ocean, the “voice” got more insistent and to stop “screwing around.” It was definitely irritated with me. I was lost for a little over 3 hours before they saw my mask reflection, and pulled me (exhausted) into the rubber dinghy. I could have sued them and collect a large settlement. I never did. I guess I would have to “swear” that “I was terrified.” In truth, I never was. Not for a moment. I guess, after you are dead, you just don’t care anymore. I support neither one side nor the other on life after death at the moment. I am open to all new evidence, and that's why I enjoy your content. The state of things, at the moment, is we do not know. This answer is worth a lot in itself. To know that you do not know is not a signature of weakness, but rather, a invitation to learn and advance. To claim to know without evidence is at best ignorant and at worst dangerous. All the evidence of near death experiences are just that- near death. As far as we know, no one has actually returned from death (though I think, as Sam Parnia said, that our definition of death is in need of an overhaul). On the other hand they are also experiences. It may well be, that the problem lies in the fact that is only so much of "reality" we can measure objectively , and after a certain point, any further measurement is subjective. Just as the "state" of awareness in meditation is purely subjective and cannot be measured objectively in a lab, although it has of course been tried with the help of FMRI's, and that physics breaks down after a certain point on small scales, there is a possibility that there are elements of "reality" or even "reality" itself that can only be experienced (see the hard problem). It is a fascinating topic and I much appreciate all the efforts being done by those in scientific, philosophical and mystic/spiritual branches taking the time to tackle it. It is direct agent causation. The agent can cause things to happen because the agent's mind can will it to happen. One could ask what enables fire to cause other material to combust. When someone says that the rapid movement of the fire's atoms is what caused it, then that merely pushes it back one step. One could then ask why do fast moving atoms burn instead of freeze things. The answer is either it just does, God made it that way, or to offer a deeper detail. The third answer goes on until it comes to answer one or two. Answer one makes little sense why the physical world had to be this way. I think agent causation as the ultimate foundation is more powerful an explanation than only physical causation. If I am unclear then please ask and I would be glad to help.

About an hour before my Great Grandmother passed away. Her health was doing extremely well. So much that the doctor actually thought she was going to be okay. Then, like you said, my Great Grandmother’s health just plummeted and then she passed. So I think it might does have something to do with the soul.

Great video however you said a few times that NDE's involve no brain activity. But the two types of death clinical and biological, clinical is when you die but still have brain activity (such as NDEs) and biological where no one comes back from amd *that* is when there is cessation of brain function. So I think one could argue that NDEs and clinical death isn't *true* death therefore we cannot use it as a marker as life after death
