Interesting, electricity conducts better in cooler conditions but the freezing temperatures would affect the battery acid. I wonder.

Actually It is quiet accurate, if it's located near the Mc murdo station(near the ocean) this is the temperature you can expect in winter

I feel that The Long Dark did this genre a lot better, with a open world and better survival elements, and focusing on the same elements but being a bit more presice instead of your warm, your cold, your dead. You should try it Jon, it seems right up your alley! If you do, watch out for the wildlife, they don't seem to like humans very much. : )

Yeah I was just going to comment about that, this just seems like a slightly less good version honestly. I find TLD gets quite boring and repetitive after a while but until that point it's such an immersive experience. Especially when you're hiding in a building trying to wait for wolves to leave you alone while you desperately need food and firewood, so you have to break down the furniture for wood just to survive.

Jon there's a game called the long dark which focuses on survival elements but mostly surviving against the cold. You have to manage the amount of calories you intake and lose and I think you'd really like it.

The cold element reminds me of Cryostasis: Sleep of Reason. That game had you on a Russian ship that has frozen over and you have to not only escape, but stop the ship from crashing in the first place. I'd watched TheRadBrad play it back in 2012 and it looked compelling. The only problem was the engine not cooperating with Nvidia Physx. I'm not sure if Jon could find a copy and get it to run, but if he could, I think he'd enjoy it.

I came back to this video to recommend a game to you! It's called "The Long Dark." I've been following its progression throughout its early access lifetime and would really love to see you play it! Wouldn't really call it "less good", would rather call it "more casual with artificially increased difficulty". Increased in a sense that you freeze in a few minutes and is forced to be pretty quick about everything and have no time to think about anything but how to run around and loot faster.

This isn't survival horror... its really just survival. Like I understand it can feel overwhelming but I dont think its quite horror. Just pure survival which is fun. I like survival games, matter of fact I like adding survival into games where it doesn't belong like in Skyrim with Frostfall and RND and stuff.
