I'm 76 years old. I just started flying again this year after a 22 year hiatus. I live in Los Angeles, but I own a Luscombe that I keep in Central Michigan. The reason for that is partly due to you, but mostly due to the people who own the grass strip along the river in this video. What an incredible hidden gem rural Michigan is..

Thank you very much. That remark made my day. Keep flying and I'll keep my eyes peeled for a Luscombe flying in Central Michigan. Hope to see you. Thanks again.

Breakfast Saturday!! CO18 I’m buying for all Michigan pilots who fly-in🤠

I don't turn down invites to private strips... though with a plane as slow as mine, not sure I can make it by then.

@@GreatMichiganBushCo that’s high speed compared to my Dragonfly 🤠 I cruise @35 mph. But it’s pretty easy to land anywhere.

Don't Forget KJ's family Restaurant right off the end of the Runway in Mecosta. Try to meet there for Breakfast once a week during the summer.

Come to Michigan anytime Cory. I'd like to come out west and fly with you sometime. I think we'd have a blast in Utah.

I just bought a Stinson HW-75 with a Lycoming 290-D2 and a climb prop just a couple of months ago. I am a 70+ year old student pilot... My Baby Stinson leaps in to the air and flys like a dream, just not very fast...But climbs out at 80 mph @ 600+ ft climb... Beautiful flying in the middle of nowhere in SE Arizona...
@GreatMichiganBushCo3 жыл бұрын
Very cool! Thanks for sharing! Did the 75 see any combat?

@@GreatMichiganBushCo Sunk 3 subs, 2 aircraft carriers and 1 heavy cruiser....hahaha.. Joke. I don't think so. A helper read the log books at prebuy. I just got back into flying past March and I have watched all of your videos.. I really enjoy them and they sold me on the Stinson. I am impressed with the girl and her Taylorcraft..

@@jimcombatvet8122 There is a group putting together a HW-75 that was stationed off the east coast and saw service as a sub reconnaissance aircraft. I can't imagine being 25 miles off shore with that plane at 500' and below looking for subs.
@jimcombatvet81223 жыл бұрын
@@GreatMichiganBushCo The HW-75 was also known as the 105 and came with a Continental 75 hp engine. Several were purchased by celebrities including Jimmy Stewart and Edgar Bergen. I am thrilled mine came with a 135 hp engine. It had been completely restored in 2003 and the engine put in in 2011. The previous owner used it for bush flying in Idaho until he lost his medical..

You have one of the best airplanes ever!! I had a Stinson 10A. I've flown over 300 Types. The little Stinson is just perfect. Enjoy it. Nothing better out there. Should cruise 105 when properly rigged. Mine was two place with a fold down seat in the baggage compartment. The passenger sits sideways

Both engines in the two planes taking off together at the beginning sounded beautiful! Almost reminded of listening to the 4 big engines on a WW2 B-17 at one point. Love that sound! Looked a bit bumpy!
@GreatMichiganBushCo3 жыл бұрын
I had to include that sound it was so beautiful. At one point it sounds almost like a round engine twin just a little out of sync. I am glad someone else noticed that music the Franklins were making.

@@GreatMichiganBushCo That's what I was thinking of those BIG Radial engines!!! I'm really glad you included it too, I know I'll be playing it over a few more times at least! And just barely out of sync! I even waited as they approached to the point just where they were lined up together before passing by in front from left to right, that was great! Thanks for your reply!

@@GreatMichiganBushCo IMO, it’s okay if it’s intentional. Ie you’re landing on a 10,000 foot strip and you know you’re off ramp is going to be at midfield or landing on a long one way in strip that you plan to taxi down to the other end to make use of the entire runway for take off. If it’s because you allowed it to float, or being lazy etc and you didn’t touch down exactly where you intended then my advice is to not let that happen… be deliberate and if it’s not doing what you want, go around and make it a practice… my opinion is from a standpoint of putting a pacer in 400’ back country strips on a regular basis, if your not touching down and solid ability to brake on mark, your asking for trouble. Don’t ever fly lazy and dont let it float unintentionally, you never know when you may find yourself needing the skill to get her in on spot! Beautiful birds btw, look like some nice flying!

Those 31" tires may be a lot of things, but one thing they are NOT is "good looking." They destroy the lines of the aircraft. It's like putting 31 inch rims on your passenger car.

I have to disagree. Those 31'' tires make my heart throb when they come up beside me. They look so good it hurts.

I must disagree. While the lines of a Stinson with 7" tires and wheel pants are good. The sight of a Stinson 108 with 31" tires is "good looking" too. It's just a good looking airplane. Also the Stinson 108 is not passenger car. David thank you watch the channel and maybe we can get out flying sometime.

I disagree… but I’m also in an area of the world where we can and do use them… 😂 when I’m in the lower 48 I think little wheels and wheel pants look silly! But if your getting them for landing on manicured grass strips, kind of a waste…
