My grandparents had sleeping porches. They also had a porch (breezeway) that ran thru the middle of the house, LR kitchen one side bedrooms other.

I like the idea of the sleeping porches and breezeway. I do have a couple cots in storage that might end up set up in the screen room for the nice nights.

@@TheBackwoodsHermitI have one of those screen door covers with the magnetic center and open the window on the opposite side to get a cross breeze. Works well combined with the efficient little battery powered fans. Love sleeping with the sounds of nature at night. Of course when it gets too warm I go to my second shack up front that’s hooked to grid power 😂

Hey steve, Thank you for the insight you are giving and the oppotunity to follow your jurney. Life is a work in progress i guess. It's facinating to see what you accomplished so far and that it doesn't always goes as planed is normal i think. Most people could not live your lifestyle. They don't have the guts. I wish you all the best and that you achieve your goals quick. As always give brute some good scarches and stay healthy! Take care 😊

Thanks again for the kind words. Whatever type of lifestyle people choose to live, I just hope they can find joy and happiness in it. That's something I'd like to see others take away from my videos. I don't believe there's a right or wrong way to live, just compromises. You take care as well.

It's amazing what the sun can do to things, and in so short a time. Maybe get old thrift sheets and wrap your clothes in them and put them in the storage containers? But then I guess you wouldn't be able to see what's in the containers.... Shade is King. And I sure know what you mean about working all day and feeling like you got nothing done. It will all shape up slowly, though. No need to rush. 🧡

Absolutely the sun is a powerful force. It can be so destructive, yet provides so much energy in the form of plant growth, photovoltaic systems and passive solar building design. I'll have a more permanent place for my clothes in the cabin eventually, but I did want to bring up the totes as an option for everyone to consider. I couldn't have done this move without a good collection of totes with snap lids. Thank you as always for the kind and encouraging words, Melanie. I hope things are going well for you and that you always continue seeing the magic in this world.

If I had to choose one I'd pick a small freezer over a refrigerator. You can freeze food for the long term and make all of your own ice for a cooler to substitute for a frig. You mentioned adding solar power, by choosing the freezer, that would limit your power usage and would not require a bigger system to be able to run both. Great video! I'm just trying to suggest some ideas. Best of luck!

The things that 99.9% of Americans take for granted are pure luxuries to folks starting a homestead from nothing. Very few of us would attempt to do what you are achieving in stride. Have you walked your property and searched for any springs or seeps to develope? Any plans for a well or rain catchment roof?

Those are really good questions and thinking on it, ones that are probably too complex to answer thoroughly in a comment. I took a screenshot of your questions and will discuss different water options here in an upcoming video. Thanks for the idea and I'll try to go in depth since that's an extremely important subject. Take care.

I understand how priorities change once you move into the forest, I don't think I ever had a cabin that got finished, I was always to busy enjoying nature, my clock broke about ten years ago best thing that ever happened. Question,, Would you happen to know what year this is?😊✌
