Part of the TV Series "God's Greatest Hits", this haunting version of "Nearer my God to Thee" is performed by tenor Justin Bacchus with the Afiara String Quartet and was arranged by Omar Daniel.

I literally just watched part one of the season finale of hell's kitchen. They show a Titanic set up in Vegas and ask the contestants if they've seen it. I say to my husband, that is a hard movie to watch but so good. He says oh yea, the scene that gets me the most is the mother reading to her two children who obviously will all sink and die. I said my heartbreaking moment is - Gentleman it has been a pleasure playing with you and all of the sudden I said what song was that? My mind shouted at me - Nearer my heart to thee - and I had to look it up. How the hell I could remember that after all these years and not even thinking about the music, the song, the movie - it just blew my mind. That is how we know something stuck with us, OR we know God is talking through us and is with us always!

My late father George, was born in 1900 in Southampton, there were stewards who lived almost opposite him who went down with Titanic, which he waved off from The Ocean terminal. In later life he became a professional musician. Just the thought of those brave musicians on board always reduced him to having at least tears in his eyes. God bless them all.

Listened to it many times. Thinking that it would have a different impact on me as time passes by. But it still makes me cry and reminds me of the sinking Tinatic and state of mind of passengers.

This is factually incorrect. The last song played on Titanic was a song known by all members of each band. (There was more than one) The only song the men could agree they ALL knew was, "Autumn Waltz". It is a haunting musical piece...one that truly captured the tragedy.

But many survivors say that it was the last song they heard played on the Titanic
@PaarseKatten2 жыл бұрын
the evidence for "Songe d'Automne" rested solely on the uncorroborated testimony of Harold Bride, who told a reporter for the New York Times that the last song he remembered the band playing was called “Autumn.”

Lovely vocals who is he?
@paulaskeete12433 жыл бұрын
There are two versions of this song a American version and a British one. The band could not have been playing this version as they were all European and only the British version would have been known to them.
@nykkelly33883 жыл бұрын
You're correct. There was more than one band on the Titanic. The only song all men could play and were familiar with was a song titled, "Autumn Waltz", and I heard the last copy of it on a cruise in which a historian spoke to guests about the Titanic. It is (the song) so hauntingly beautiful, I cried...along with the members of the audience.
@amybillmeyer37753 жыл бұрын
I just was talking about the movie a minute ago and thought - Nearer my God to thee - for the song they were playing and I have no idea how I could remember that. Funny enough, there was a Dr Quinn Medicine episode on last week, the one where a telegram came over saying the world would end due to a comet. At the end, they all gathered at the church, coming together to await their fate. Hank of course was forced to tend to Horace... Anyway, Father led them all in song to - guess what - Nearer my God to thee. So it must have been in my mind, but what a coincidence!!

Jesus came into the world to free us from the sin that separates us from him…God loves you and wants you to know him that is why Jesus was crucified on the cross and bled for our sins and died He was buried and raised by God on the third day to free us from the law of sin and death if you believe in him with all your heart you will be saved and have hope new life forever and ever…..do not trust in your own righteousness because it is like filthy rags in the eyes of God trust in him and his righteousness If you were to go down to the grave today would you wake up in hell or in heaven?

No offence but this is a bit disrespectful cause I don’t think they actually sung I know this cause there wouldn’t be any point cause of all the screams I respect what ur doing but it’s just a bit ignorant And also they played a different version I don’t think it was the James Cameron one but it wasn’t this one
