I relate to this so much. I questioned my life sometimes. I challenged myself on whether or not my need for adventures was simply escapism and a way to postpone or ignore my fears. After much reflection and introspection I concluded that travel/nomad life/adventures is just part of who I am. It is not an escape. It is the way I experience joy and freedom. Therefore, it can only be right. What is plainly wrong is doing things we hate or the dull 9-5 that carries little or no meaning, and does not serve our immediate or long-term goals. Living in a battery chicken farm conveyor belt new build estate (surprisingly!) never inspired me nor any material things associated with that and I no longer feel guilt about rejecting these ideas that society deems to be 'normal'. Normal sucks. Now I understand why I have rejected a lot of this society-based nonsense and conditioning. I've been waiting for the existential video because I knew exactly what you would say because I said the very same things 3 years ago. Much has changed since and along the lines of the ideas you've started to play with! Now the wonderful part begins. Acceptance is the key. Accept who we are, create space to design a life of our choosing, and find freedom for ourselves and on our terms. You are in the best phase now and you can build wisely and rationally (your rationale, not a rationale imposed on you by others or society) from there. Good luck with your next adventure - you're very lucky - many people are trapped in a life not of their choosing. Right now, you have the chance to create a life that inspires you and fills you with joy. Everything starts from within.

I was wondering about you the other day, and here you are with more to say in one video than all the others combined. You are a complex and interesting person and I appreciated learning about who you are and why. I had a profound spiritual experience over thirty years ago and it changed me forever. It's a gift, and can also make regular life feel pointless. Having my children was the purpose I needed. Love is the bottom line.

Hi Morts, I was in your position in 2015. I felt completely lost for about 4 years. What kept me sane was travel, even if it was just a day trip to somewhere nearby. Really enjoying your videos as usual, just finished watching your new forest adventure. Keep up the good work. All the best, Nicolai

Hi Morts, great to see you again and to hear about your ‘existential crisis’. Work isn’t for everyone; follow your heart. Drugs can give you a taste of the Divine and like you said, you are left with a memory, and a certainty that God exists. You can build on this, by meditating, and by asking for guidance. Good things come to those who ask with sincerity. Sue from Berkshire x

@thomasofearth3183 the guy needs to get off his arse and get a job. There is no reason for anyone not to have had a job in 4 years. Sat wallowing in misery and self pity isn't doing him any favours. That's my advice. That's life. Start with a job, then save money, then get your own place, live life like the rest of us and hopefully he'll meet someone. But you coming on banging on about buying cheap land to a guy that's no worked in 4 years and living with his parents is completely unrealistic and just utter crap. The guy needs a kick up the arse by his parents and told to get in the real work.

Freedom Morts, true freedom……you don’t need drugs or mushrooms to become close to God. I’ve been there and no longer live in doubt or fear. Just humble yourself before our Lord and surrender your life to Him. Repent of your sins and you will be free…just believe. You will never truly succeed when trying to do things in your own strength. Turn your eyes upon Jesus and allow the Holy Spirit to guide you, bringing you back into the fold. That’s true freedom beautiful Morts. We live in the world but are not of it. Sending so much love ❤ Praying for peace and joy in your heart….you are a good man 🙏🏻

I've been following you since the beginning of the build out of the Skoda (?) It had inspired me to build the same in my 98' Volvo S90, a great stealth car, I used it to sleep on the beach in Monterey California, steps away from the water and a restaurant as well as public restrooms... showers on the other hand were a short drive away but still unfinished, I do look forward to the day work slows down enough for me to not only finish that but to do a Box Truck build, I have an old box with just cool looking hardware and a stainless siding, it's amazing but more on you my friend, I also was in the midst of divorce, finalized July 23' since then I've been busy and not watching much of the Morts... and I have to ask because I'm concerned, do you feel therapy might help your disposition or would therapy be a trip to say, California, help a friend out on the Volvo build and maybe stick around for a summer helping on a box truck .. all this could be a therapy, I too could use the therapy and perhaps a new friend.

Hi Morts. Always interested to hear your thoughts! I was living in Japan when you last posted, but I have since eft to start an extended (2 years at least) sabbatical. I'm in Australia now doing workaway stays - have you heard of the scheme? 4-5 hours per day for food and accommodation, with a couple of days off per week. I find that it gives me a purpose in that I am helping older folk get by, but I have plenty of free time to do what I want to do, while barely spending any money. Some beautiful properties too. After a couple of weeks, I move to a different place. That said, I still do think a lot about stuff. I am 42, and happily never married or had kids. I'll be returning to the UK in April and staying with my parents in between workaway stints in mainland Europe, so I feel very similar to you in many respects, which reassures me! I enjoyed learning a bit more about your past in this video, and as the future is uncertain, just appreciate your mother's company while you can - I'm sure she is enjoying having you around :)
