Nearly DIVERTED - Bad Weather - Landing Portland Maine - Delta Airlines - CRJ-900 - N187GJ

Facing near zero visibility and heavy rain, this GoJet CRJ-900 flight crew was 10 minutes away from diverting to our alternate, Boston, MA (KBOS). Thank goodness the weather let up and allowed us to land. Some really exceptional flying and communication from the flight crew. Please see below for more information about the video.

Oh yeah, I was on an El Al red-eye from Tel Aviv home to NYC-JFK and we were diverted to Boston Logan because of early morning fog at JFK. It's already nearly an 11 hour flight, and because we were an international flight from the Middle East, we couldn't deplane in Boston. We had to sit on the tarmac (in the plane) for nearly an hour until we took off for JFK. At least we were in a 747 (this was back in the early 90's), so we touched down at JFK 25-30 minutes later. STILL, VERY annoying. 🙄

It was annoying, but brutal? Nah, could have been MUCH WORSE. Look what happened on 9/11 to all the diverted international flights that had to land in Gander, Newfoundland. It's all a matter of perspective.
