You should be heard everywhere! You have one of the warmest sounds I have ever heard. Articulation is perfect! And this solo can't be beat...
@peterchoe4 жыл бұрын
ribbon mic, probably, not to detract from his playing but that extreme warmth is really the rolloff of frequencies above 10kish as well as abnormally strong proximity effect from the bidirectional pattern.

@@peterchoe and yet, if i were in the that room while he played, this is exactly what i would expect to hear. I don't think the mixing desk played a major roll...this is what it sounds like, up close and personal.

You are my favorite Mr. Mc Donald. Your solos are never too complicated and that's what a sax amateur like me needs. I learned the sax listening to your records. The solo on your rendition of "As time goes by" of 30 years ago, is a masterpiece of beauty, wich I use in any occasion. Thank you for your videos.

I just loved this performance. You, the sax player, had such an amazing interpretation of this outstanding standard, on a beautiful, balanced Action (you just had to have played with the greats), such amazing conception and technique. The bassman, spot on. The vibeman-incredible solo and such subtle accompaniment! Drummer, great hair, and glad to see you're not playing heavy metal. I ask myself every day why, just why, doesn't America appreciate this music and want to enjoy it in the capable hands of young artists. Bravo. Keep it coming. You are the solution. With love, Tony Heath (Birdland Ranch, Canelo Arizona).

There is just something about the old TH and C 400"s that is just rewarding to play. They are heavy old war horses that speak with an elegance.... like a little 10M on the bottom..but richer and more mellow, and like a Mark VI on the top at times, but not as thin and airy. Such interesting horns....underrated probably because they are relatively scarce.
@stefanomoretti36643 жыл бұрын
and becasue Selmer downgraded them to military band instruments when they bought out the brand. The mechanics are fare more ergonomic and easier than the Conn 10M and way more in tune throughout the range in my experience.
