An amazing technique to discover is the long sleeve continuous bound placket. You’ll see this on some women’s blouses and this is one technique that looks harder than it really is. it really is delicate and adds the special touch to a sleeve.
I’m here today to share an up close step by step sewing tutorial, so you can sew them too! I am sharing important concepts that will help you have a good time and maybe even add this gorgeous detail to a simple sleeve. You’ll see a peek of one of my silk projects coming real soon!
Binding: 1.5" tall by the length needed. I like it on the straight of grain.
Cuff: borrow on from a pattern you've already made or make your own.

It looks so simple and perhaps I would have better luck with an adult shirt. I am doing a child’s dress white shirt with only a 3 inch slash and no matter how I try I only get puckers or holes. I enjoy and learn from your videos.

I like this simple technique for plackets. Haven’t made a shirt yet. I just tried this method on a top that needed more ease around the hips and it worked! I also have a top with a high neckline that bugs me. Going to open it up. I assume a bigger v cut (stay stitched) will work? The neckline already has a bias binding. Going back pre-Karina to try and salvage some of my earlier attempts. A big thank you to your late aunt. We wouldn’t be learning from you if it hadn’t been for her.

This is a great technique and frankly in no way infer to the more laborious method used I’m menswear. Certainly, it is preferable for very lightweight fabrics. Thanks for the excellent demonstration.

Thanks for this video. I just did my first sleeve placket and it turned out well! I was wondering if at some point you could do a video covering how you hide the seam allowances when you turn the cuff to the inside. The part that makes the square edge of the cuff. I always find it hard to hide that part with hand sewing or machine stitching. It always sticks out through the seam. I'm not sure if I'm explaining it well though.

Right. I’m going to do it. I recently made knit dresses for my granddaughters. They don’t live close enough to try them on but should be down here before June. I’m almost sure they’re not going to be able to get them over their heads. Family failing 🫤. I’ve been debating how to open up the neckband and neatly add extra space.
