Why do you hire more coaches but players roster size is getting a lot smaller?

There was a recent rule change that basically makes it so you can have as many coaches as you want. In education the closer you can get the teacher to student ratio to 1:1 the better. Coaches are teachers. The smaller the class each one is able to teach the better the students will comprehend.
