That Johnny Rodgers punt return in The Orange Bowl was the most exciting thing that I ever saw. I was a 10 year kid from some 3rd world country living in The Bronx NY. That play ended up turning me into a big time Husker Fan.

I remember watching that bowl game between Alabama and Nebraska. I was 10 year old Alabama fan but the Tide was no match for Nebraska in that game. That 71 Nebraska team did not have a weakness. Alabama/Nebraska used to play each other during the regular season I wish they would do that again. Nebraska will be back competing for Nat'l championships the only thing holding you back is finding the right coach.

I went to high school with Jerry Murtagh, Bob Churchich and Dick Davis and my wife went to high school with Johnny Rodgers. Football stars and in fact all high performance sports figures start in high school. Those who have God given abilities need to have them nurtured and supported by family and the community. In what ever you do, do your best.

You have to include great runs. by Bobby Reynolds.....He was the first sophomore in college football to be named to the first team Look Magazine coaches selection....Also, Mr. Touchdown, the song was named after him......Too bad we don't have film, of Johnny Bender and other greats.....

No Tommy Hiesman Run, No Fumblerooski, what about The Run by Rodgers against OU? Maybe Eric Crouch 99 yd TD run and don't forget Davidson's tipped catch to tie the game against Missouri to save our 1997 title. My all time favorite is 245 lb fullback Dan Alexander's Run 80yd TD against Colorado where he out raced, actually out gained Safety Ben Kelly who was a sprinting champion. So many more great plays! But because it is Husker Football I give you thumbs up!

Best play against Okie State was Barron Miles' punt block TD all-in-one-motion play in 1993. A top 10, if not top 5 play in the history of NU football. Just an AMAZING play! Yes, even BETTER than the Miracle in Missouri.

stalagna: Did they actually rule the play dead? Nebraska didn't get the fumble? If that's true, wow, that's unreal. It's more than obvious he fumbled before he was down. That would be one of the worst calls of all time if that's what they called.

I'm a Notre Dame fan and I'll say this: 1. Jonny Rodgers was the 1st of the great return man - smooth! 2. You didn't have Frazeri's run against Florida? Greatest run ever! 3. Get your own damn song, playing Rudy! I wish Nebraska and the Irish would play more but conference play ruins this. Great program Cornhuskers!
