I forgot where I heard this but apparently NECA had more plans to do things like this with Godzilla. They planned to do a Super Godzilla and even a Ghost Godzilla based on the cancelled movie “Godzilla vs Ghost Godzilla”. The reason why those figures were scrapped was because Toho being Toho simply said no to these ideas. Like I said, I forgot where I heard this but it sure would’ve been really cool if Toho actually allowed NECA to make those figures.

There was apparently going to be an Atomic Blast 2014 on top of it too. They even asked if it was cool to do a Marvel's Godzilla as well and were denied. I remember asking Randy on Twitter the possibilities of that Marvel Godzilla and he said, to the best of my memory "Shot Down Instantly" It's a weird thingamacgoo, because, around that time, I remember Randy saying their communication with Toho would have to go through WB. And after some point, when WB was eliminated, is around when KingGoji got made. So I really wonder if it was Toho being Toho or there being some sort of communication. Because it seemed directly after that, they were able to pump out better-looking figures and seemed to be able to do more.. ish.

85 Goji is an example on why NECA was so based when it came to their Godzilla figures. Not only did they made improvements to the mold when it was shown as a prototype, but they also fixed all that was off on the first release and resulted in the reissue. Much respect to that and I now regret not getting this figure, especially when 84 figures don't come by often. Also, 11:25 NES goji looks so menacingly good here, but darn, they should've done 64 too.

Even though I’m indifferent towards the releases, for the most part, I do give NECA credit for listening to fans in a situation like this, even if I did really want that horrific pile of awfulness the V1 was lol And I like that they continued to improve on their releases as they came out, be it via paint or just the builds overall, like what they did with the KOTM Gojis. It’s something I wish more companies would do more frequently. Especially you, BANDAI.

both the original '85 and the NES figure are the icons of my childhood, i actually loved the original '85 because it gave me an opportunity to own an 84goji figure since at the time any figures of '84 are pretty much rare, but sadly youtube reviews back in the day is enough to convince me that the figure is pretty bad but as time goes on i do really appreciate the original '85 figure he's still cool, and NES back then just blew me away with the awesome box and being such a unique figure. Really hoping i could get the '85 reissue but oh well i'm still fine with my original and NES

I feel ya dawg. Neca’s 1985 was my first of the design as well. I might’ve been a bit hard on the poor guy, but I’ll always appreciate that NECA dared to go where every affordable like refused to go prior lol And as far as the NES variant goes, I really wish they would’ve done more of that for Godzilla. Godzilla and weird and vibrant paint schemes go hand and hand with one another. Need more of it!

There actually is more to the reissue of the NES Godzilla here aside the swivels to the wrist. The reissue not only has a slightly darker green paint (from photo reference). His iris are also black instead of a very dark green. And finally the biggest visual change is the side dorsal plates were changed to look bigger (probably because of the dorsal plate changes to the reissue of 84/85 which happened around that same time).

Wish they re-did te NES version with the 64 mold, since the sprite is based off of Mosugoji. But it's still a great looking figure, odd that it's the only videogame Godzilla fig to my knowledge, ya think bandai would be all over that stuff for varients. Also, I think the body of the mold is a little skinny in places is because they might have also sprinkled some cybot images in there for insparation. Same with the face a little bit.

Late to the party on this vid. For me, I enjoyed NECA's Godzilla line. Especially NES. Very cool variant, along w/56 poster. Least fav was 64. Curious if there's any difference in the 1st 54 blister pack vs the 2nd one with the fire breath?
