Your book, Dr Cloud, was the first book I read right after I left my (now) abusive, addicted, and adulterous ex-husband for the fourth time (ugh). The two chapters that I bought the book for were: 1. Hoping vs. Wishing and 2. Wise, Foolish, and Evil People. They helped me make my decision!!! I am now divorced as I was living by wishing he would change. It took 31 months as he is an evil man (which REALLY came out when I wasn’t coming back this time). I prayed and waited and the Lord has provided for me a loving, godly, honorable husband who is wise and we live in hope. Each day is a new gift of joy and grace. If it weren’t for your book, I’d probably still be co-dependent, defending an evil man. Thank you for writing it! It changed my life! ❤️

It’s quite lonely in my life at this time. But not chaotic and wrong. I’ve removed SO MANY TOXIC HUMANS / things/ situations from my life,,, as He guided me. I’m waiting for direction everyday. I pray asking The Lord to not have me die all alone. Yes I have a church. Yes I have a few friends, true friends. But companionship I do not have. 😢❤❤

I feel your pain 😢 and had this thought for you... maybe God still sees you in a season of healing ... working on you 🥀 to get you back to the most beautiful rose 🌹 that you are meant to be 🎉 You've done the hardest part, removing toxic people and things. I want to encourage you to endure a little bit more of healing and with excitement, keep envisioning the life you want to have with that companion 🌈 so you'll be ready for it when God knows you are and there will be no backsliding. I've struggled with acceptance since my divorce. I've struggled with accepting the end, accepting that I've lost friends & relationships, and accepting my future is VERY different from my past. You have really helped me! Pruning is not easy, but God has the vision for the end result. #John15:2

I lost friends when I divorced also. Then years later, when I finally was in a serious relationship, the man committed suicide, and he was a Christian. I lost even more friends. Now I have very few friends. I’m very lonely.

So hard but necessary for the greater good. If our backpack gets too heavy we can't climb the next mountain. It is important to pay attention to how things are when being with others or in certain groups, commitments and often over time things evolve and desires change. God will let us know which way to go.

Mr. Cloud's writings are gentle and purposeful, he will help you get the life God has for you. These books are probably some of the first books to read, eventually you'll have to move into the secular arena if you have really, dark, manipulative, numerous evil people in your life.

Dr Cloud, 30 yrs ago God used you to help me navigate a new life. Our church did Wednesday nights to teach life skills using book boundaries. Sir for 6 months or so, in secret we I was in really hard situations, I would go to your book to guide me to have courage to say no. As a director of food service, starting a new life away from an abusive marriage, a mom of a 5 yr old, I walked into a business where I was to catch thieves in my department. Holy Spirit would direct me to specific chapter, I would hold my head up and straight forward confront and execute my responsibilities. For 7 years with the company, I learned through your book and Bible, what I had went through was not my identity. When my staff was faced with disfuctional relationship problems, I would give them your book or sit down and read a segment to them, they all received and took care of business!! If you are looking to grow in the grace and knowledge of God , you will find analogies here, and yes it is helpful to recognize Him and to understand ourselves. God is glorified when his children are given and use wisdom for warfare to prudently navigate through our time this side of Heaven. This man is not sharing how to get rich so we can spend it on ourselves. He’s message is that life is hard but we can with the help of the Holy Spirit recognize areas in our lives that are not as they should be and make some choices and changes so that we ourselves don’t have to continue being a contributor to our own suffering We can recognize our responsibility and repent and choose godliness as set forth in scripture. Can the world use these principles for worldly gain, certainly, but the greater gain is found in God and in his kingdom. I would be a foolish person to throw away wisdom just because it can also be used and useful for someone with only a worldview.
