The graphics overhaul updating it from Prison Architect graphics to full pixel art is one of the best things the dev could have done for the game's image. Really looking forward to seeing this game pop off.

The fact your characters aren't locked to a world is definetly what makes me interested in playing this for solo/ with friends. Looks kinda sick for a chill lil experience.

its good, the progression feels exactly like terraria but from top view, also you can set up the village in a way that ppl on your village will farm and craft things automaticaly, all with game mecanics, not like using tricks and bugs

Few hundred hours in the game Without spoiling the game has a really fun and complex end game that is tons of fun. Wish you had mentioned some of the extra stuff you can do but understand why you don't wanna spoil some of the more "wow" moments. Overall awesome vid hope more people pick up the game its tons of fun. If you enjoy terria at all this game is def a must grab.

I have beaten what it has and enjoyed it. I beat everything the game had to offer before the graphics update so even with that being newly released I likely wont be playing it due to having done everything but I plan to pick it up again once new content is added. It took me about 15 hours to get to the end and I had a town of 20 and a town of 15. I do hope that they add quite a bit more content because it is short game but that being said it is in EA so its very possible they will add quite a bit more content. I look forward to seeing where it goes.

Great review. Was always a fan of Terraria, Stardew, and Minecraft years ago. Picked this up on whim in very late last night and ended up playing all night and into the morning.. It’s a ton of fun, honestly just want to get back to playing some more.

People saying it is like Rimworld is misleading and has caused several negative reviews on Steam from people who read that and are disappointed. You set up a settlement with people who work and defend your base, but they don't have personalities, so you don't get the emergent gameplay of Rimworld. I really like Necesse, I just wish people in reviews would temper the Rimworld comparison.

@@ozymandias8523 The inspiration for the genre, Dwarf Fortress. I much prefer it to Rimworld, but it isn't necessarily for everyone, it is less of a game and more of a simulation.

Expensive? All ya need is to get a carp bench which is cheap get shears shear sheep for wool get wood and boom. Bed

Elona is where it's at. Elona plus specifically. I have over 240+ hours on that game. So much to do. So much freedom and wacky/unique characters. It is also completly free. Also you can "mount" your companions. In every sense of the world and even make kids for a brand new game where you can leave your items for them as inheritance. It is also fully open source and it has multiple ports. I am currently running a mod of a mod of a mod of a mod lol. Elona plus custom gx + beautified. It is amazing

@@TwoWayOrbitalStation I'm running Elona plus + custom + gx + beautified. I'm also running another custom version but that one was a pain in the butt to set up. Had to build it from scratch with a Japanese only custom builder kind of annoying. So I would recommend that first one just because of ease of use and it still has more content than the latter. Which is called(wait for it) Elona Omake Overhaul Modify Sukutu Edition South Tyris Step Naruto Custom. Or Elona OOMSESTepNC for short. LOL. Also elona plus custom gx supports all custom resolutions including 4k, super ultra wide and more. No stretching. Native.

I've had this game for awhile and never touched it when it felt like so rimworld. Since it had first mc-like textures. Did not expect it to become Stardew-like textures but overall i've completed the game and oh boy. This is somewhat the best version of what 3 games is combined, Terraria, Minecraft, and Rimworld. If Necesse 2 where to come out. It would not only restrict to archipelago world structure but maybe a somewhat Core Keeper world structure. Core Keeper has the same vibe but not rimworld-like.

Somehow I missed this game on release. I really like it although the engine is a bit dated. Text scaling is a bit wonky on a larger monitor or higher res so text sometimes looks blurry / bad and also when you mouseover things the little popups seem kind of weird framerate or jittery or something. But seems fun. Gonna enjoy my time in it.

​@@Kealannn I assume it's because it's old OpenGL game (I think?) and is worsened by the scaling features. I hope I get used to it though because the game looks so fun. Big fan of Stardew, Minecraft, Terraria, etc etc

It isn’t for everyone, if you want to try to get into it again try this: build a boat ASAP and find a pirate island, then raid it through block cheesing to get high level gear early and get the first quests done asap!
