Really appreciate the tour of the grain bin setup and operation on the farm. Truly fascinating. I've worked around them for years with some basic knowledge of operation and flow path. Of course they are all built slightly differently and with variances in complexity, but the principal is still the same. Awesome video! Thanks!

What an operation: Corn drying and storage. Loads of moving parts. Impressive engineering.

If you packed that wood block with axle grease, I'd bet it would go the whole season. If that had been a piece of oak it could go for years. After all, covered wagons traveled across the country on similar bearings. Good thinking like a pioneer! 🤠👍

In the '50s, 60's Brillion sprocket rollers had oak box bearings. Despite heavy dust, they lasted a couple of years. They were on a three-section roller, working width 11 feet. The roller covered about 550 acres every year, running at 3-4 miles per hour. We greased the wooden boxes every hour or so.

Nice video and beautiful sunset! I live in Washington state so I have the mountains and the tall tree trees to deal with! We do some nice sunsets, but yours alot nicer!

Nice fix on the bearing, I can think of a couple people that would use it as a permanent fix as long as it kept working. May last longer if you drilled it and installed a grease fitting.

After being a fan of your channel for a couple of years I find myself guessing the moisture level of corn and soybean fields whenever I'm driving by them. 🌽💧

I admire your ingenuity slapping together the wood bearing. My misgiving about using that for long is that it looks an awful lot like the bow fire starter we used to make fire in the Boy Scouts. You rub on the wood for long enough and it makes fire. I think fire is one of the last things you'd want to have in the bin site.

Looks like that system would require a lot of maintenance, do you have natural gas on the farm?

Why not harvest later when the corn is dryer. Would that not save you the cost of drying as you do with the beans ?

hang a cone shaped disc blade thirty inches from the center spread grain out evenly.

If that 2x4 was black cherry with grease it would last 10 years. I figure that one would last about 24 hours....
