I hope you US-Americans know what great treasure you have by Marilyn Horne. We at Old Europe esp at Germany and Austria know it. Do you know Horne (as mezzo) is one of all-time greatest Mahler Lieder singer? Like at many other music fields Horne was and is busy (e.g. promoting young singers) she was and is too modest to brag with. If you don't know about her extraordinary artist personality please watch interviews and portraits posted at YT. Thank you, Marilyn Horne.

mega 17pI.I know Horne is a fantastic Mahler-singer. I love her "Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen" As well as I love her "Jeanie with the light brown hair." She is one of those singers who sings "beyond music", if you understand what I mean. Another one is her good friend and partner in many concert and operas Montserrat Caballé.

Btw: I would like to listen Mdm. Horne in 'Das Lied von der Erde' esp. 'Der Abschied'. At an interview she said she sung 'Lied von der Erde' 5 to 6 times. While Klemperer/Ludwig/Wunderlich is posted at YT there is no hint at YT/web of a record by Horne. Do you or another fan of Horne know better?

Mrs. Horne was right about her diction... "che di gel sei cinta".... not " "geol" centa"... "Io chiudo stancha gli occhi"... not "gli occha". She has a problem with "i" and she was flat. Very nice voice though! Very funny Mrs. Horne!.... LOL!
