During the M.S. in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution’s first webinar of the new academic year, Dr. Peter T. Coleman, author of The Way Out: How to Overcome Toxic Polarization (Columbia University Press, 2022), shared his research and work on toxic polarization. As the United States approaches the November 2024 election, Dr. Coleman will discuss our country’s political polarization not as stemming from a single event, but rather as a changing and dynamic system- with many variables interacting in unpredictable ways. By leaning into the complexity, Dr. Coleman will help us understand new ways to approach and engage with the election cycle.
