So, for Draven, the reason his mustache is changed is because the type of 'stache he has is called a Fu Man Chu and was/is a caricature style of mustache used by "bad guy Chinese" in older Hollywood Westerns/Crime/Action movies. You could tell a character was a bad guy Chinese person, if they had that, and if they were a good guy Chinese person, if they were either clean faced, or had a long thin beard and that stache.

Ok, the pillar is funny, but actually makes sense, as it was probably added by the artist as a framing device, since with the spear absent, composition center has much less visual weight. So the artist probably added the pillar to make a more cohesive negative space for Kallista to occupy, which would be a pretty clever trick. ...Or Chinese government just really likes pillars, who knows!

As weird as the reasoning for some of these censorships might be, you've got hand it to the artists, some of these are very creative ways of dealing with whatever the issue was, and in some cases I think it even looks better (like Shellfolk with those jellyfish-esq 'ripples' in their torsos). I think the worst part about censoring all things red with purple is that... Purple already means something in the LoL/LoR universe: it's void-y. So it misconstrues things that are supposed to represent Noxus/hemomancy/Black Rose maybe into looking like it has to do with the Void. Why couldn't they make it like... Orange? Orange juice would be less confusing lore-wise than grape juice. I can understand wanting to censor blood but using purple just screws with the lore and I'd be annoyed with that if I had to always deal with the censored cards.

Completely right. Purple already has a place in the Runeterra universe and Noxus has zero connections with the void. The Vladimir one is just so stupid because his theme is blood and changing it purple ruins his lore. Noxus sure can be less red and more orange or yellow which can actually work, but the orange/yellow scheme is for Shurima.

i actually like some of the changes. Like the Zaun bar changing to a resturant. That one is weirdly very detailed in its changes. Like that the background becomes clearer. The ligth source at the top gets dimmer, wich changes a a lot of shadows and reflections. A new ligth source with warmer ligth gets added. I abosultly love this. Also the idea that people in Zaun put chemtec stuff on there pancakes instead of syrup makes me giggel.

I would guess that some of the more random backgroundchanges happened because the coverup artist got a version to work on and than the original was changed for some reson and those changes were obviusly not added to the cencored versions. The log in the butcher art for example could habe been missleeeding in the cropped card form and was toned down later. Really just a guess but it feels very possible

That Draven edit is because of the Fu Manchu style, you see Fu Manchu was a villain from the the famous novelist called Sax Rohmer. Fu Manchu was your stereotype Chinese villain so most likely Riot was trying to avoid any correlation to that.

The good part about all of this censorship is that they really succeeded in making Eastern cultures not be turbo-addicted to stuff like porn or gambling. Otherwise there would be a massive market of gacha games involving waifus with absurd body proportions to satisfy their thirsty population over there. Yes, World of Warcraft in China (and some other regions I assume) actually replaces all the TONS of bones and meat in undead areas etc, with Bread. So sometimes there's just piles of bread on the ground in like Naxx or where ever. I assume it was simple enough to just take "object id A" and just change all of it to "object ID B". So "Bone A" is just all changed to "Bread A"

It's so dumb tho how Ashe gets censored but not the male characters in the same region... If you're going to censor female characters in snowy envirnoments then don't have men running around half-naked allergic to shirts. Put shirts on them then. Only censoring female characters is blatant misogyny.

@@jag764 they censor them because they are sexualized, the males, Trynda and Braum are not sexualized. It's kinda hard to understand but, the males are drawn to inspire, that heroic model, the strong body and will, but Ashe has her boobs out, this is sexual.

What's crazy is that the censorship is happening in reverse. In Yu-Gi-Oh, for instance, the cnesored cards are in the West with the original versions being in the East. Same with all the anime censorship.
