Xerath took the ascencion away from Azir in a act of pure hatred. For all those years, not for being freed. Also, "Old azir" was against slavery, but now that he saw that he cannot trust Slaves like Xerath, he will probably start enslaving people again. That's what i got.

Lot of interactions (mainly Taliyah) ask him to move on. All honestly, would you? I was shunned all of his life by his father and when it was his time to shine he turned Shurima into the greatest empire ever to be seen in Runeterra. He was great and people loved him. And at his greatest moment, he lost it all. His home, his family, and his people (also his life.) Then he’s revived generations from where he once was, only to not care about anything other than helping a random girl he’s never met before. If you lose all of that and still are so selfless you’ve earned your spot as emperor. Now Riot buff him

It is cool to see how Taliyah is afraid of the enslavement of her tribe when Azir freed all of Shurimas slaves as the last thing he did before he "deded".
