*guy riding up in a chariot made of bones pulled by dragon skeletons breathing black fire whilst wielding a bone scythe and wearing black armor adorned with skulls and surrounded by a purple aura* 'I'm one of the good guys.'

I see it as a classic dont judge a book by its cover type deal.

Rathma is actually the first son of inarius and lilith. As seen in the game, there is a set piece called Inarius's Reticence. The description Is "Inarius became watchful as the first Nephalem grew up. His own son, linarian, later known as Rathma, is said to have his father's stoicism. Just and interesting fact
@LordClinkenbones7 жыл бұрын
That is a very interesting fact! That brings the necromancers more in line with the creation of Sanctuary as a whole. I do wonder if the first Nephalem had a greater connection to the spirit world of Sanctuary?
@jackcarey54207 жыл бұрын
Frost Fables I believe it was after a few generations of the first Nephalem before Inarius alters the world stone to weaken them. So that might imply that all the "classes" of Nephalem was stronger in there own respective way. After the world stones destruction the few remaing Nephalem are restored to there original potential.. that's just how I understand it.

There is also a necromancer in D3 act2 the desert before getting to Maghda, as a bounty quest. It will be interesting what they do with this quest once the necro is real, such as change its graphic to one like the class.

I am very interested as well! Perhaps they'll expand it and the lore behind the Necromancer? I certainly hope so.

There's a book/novel about Ureh about a mercenary group along with a priest of Rathma as part of the heroes who saves the city by cleansing it of Diablo's influence... Forgot the title. I think there is additional lore in it.

good video but one point i wanted to clarify .......the balance they uphold is not life and death but heaven,hell,and sanctuary. They fight for the heart of sanctuary trying to prevent heaven or hell from gaining to much ground
@LordClinkenbones7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the clarification! I couldn't find too many sources on it so I went a bit more off speculation than I should have.

Very cool video, as always. One thing I'd add, though. I kind of expected some form of comparison between the necromancer and the witch doctor, since they both work with the dead (zombies, skeletons). I guess there's not much lore yet to make such a comparison?
@LordClinkenbones8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! You are correct, that would have been a good comparison. I'll keep that in mind for when the Witch Doctor comes around.

You neglected to mention Trag'Oul, the guardian dragon who the priesthood of Rathma worships.
@LordClinkenbones7 жыл бұрын
True! He was the one who taught the guy who taught Rathma. Then disappeared. I'm thinking he has something to do with the spirit world of Sanctuary. The original dragon split into the ones who because heaven and hell, and this third one might be the same for Sanctuary in some way.

Amazing video man! Really good lore videos! Always loved Starcraft and Warcraft lore, never really cared for Diablo lore that much, but your videos has really gotten me into it :)

i think you should go more in depth too. specifically more about the relationship and differences of the necro's compared to the witch doctors. i feel like both don't fit into the world of sanctuary. wizard's, monk's, demon hunters & barbarians, fit so well. and of course you cant have a world full of demons without your Templar & crusader holy knights. theres something missing. information or detail as to how they came to be. or WHY they are, how they are.

Demons use tortured and evil souls while Necromancers use only the flesh and bones of the dead to create Undead. On the surface, they look the same for the common folk.

krissthebliss actually their more as true neutral. Their whole thing is balance and order afterall.
@MrArrow544 жыл бұрын
I'd say lawful neutral or even lawfully good the first diablo book has a female necromancer and she was the good guy in the book. They don't just preserve the balance but attempt to preserve life. They see murder as a violation of the balance and she tries to save the mc who gets corrupted even tho the easier solution was to kill him stating the death of an innocent goes against the balance.
