Necromancer Needs A CHANGE In ESO

Hey everyone, these are my current thoughts on how I think Necro performs in the Elder Scrolls Online and how I'd fix it. I'd love to hear your feedback in the comments!

They should have made kjalnar’s nightmare into the necro version of spec bow instead of it being a monster set. It would have been really cool because you could have lined it blastbones with it for burst but still be able to use a different monster set.

Problems are the tethers and blastbones.. Tethers get broken or are bugged. Sometimes they don't even connect to the corpse when you're standing over it. Blastbones often fails to fire and when it does the blastbones get lost or stuck before it can reach the target. In general I feel like I have to press a lot of buttons to accomplish very little on the necro... I'm building an Oakensoul necro now for Mayhem. That ring is really neccessary to make up for all the buffs the Necro simply doesn't have built into its skill set.

It needs the arcanist treatment: every skill needs to give passive buffs on both bars while slotted, the scythe needs to execute and snare, the skulls need to travel faster and do a DOT, and much more.

Frankly more classes need that treatment too. Templar got fricking minor intellect and endurance while sorc get minor protection and 8% max mag both bars casually. The whole thing is all over the place. For necro, the passive buffs tether and coil provides could be stronger and both bars imho.

Necro needs Major Sorcery and Brutality active while Blastbones is slotted on either bar, just like the Arcanist skill. This would work great for both PvP and PvE.

They also need to GET RID OF MINOR DEFILE ON RESISTANT FLESH!!!! It’s ridiculous that your only burst heal gives you a debuffs. And the abilities need to cost less it’s the only class in the game I can run essence thief or wretched vitality on and STILL struggle with sustain. The abilities cost way to much.

@@rednecksniper4715 There's a class passive giving you 8% additional healing when affected with a negative effect, effectively nullifying the effect of the debuff. It's from the "Living Death" skill line, it's called "Curative Curse": "While you have a negative effect on you, your healing done is increased by 8%"

I have 2 necros I leveled up and played a lot when they came out. Haven’t touched them since the first nerfs.

Buffing up on necro costs like 1/3 mag and by the time you get a rotation off line up a db (doesn't kill bc everyone is tanky) resolve is down lol swap to sorc and feels easy

I agree that Necromancer needs some reworks, and the change to the magicka version of Blasbones is almost worthless. I disagree that it isn't a viable tank, or that it's D or even F tier. I run a dps necro and tank, both are decent options. It takes a little more work than other classes as far as combos and using the class in general.

That’s completely fair. I honestly don’t play tank ever so all my experiences with them is running into other players running it and I just don’t see that too often anymore

​Havent touched my necro tank since ​arcanist came out (on launch arcanist shield gave me a 50k 1 second shield followed by a 25 k shield for the next 4 seconds, and the shelter ult tooltip hit almost 200,000 damage absorb, with 50 k shields to my team). I have a DK but ive never used it, because DK tanks piss me off lol @@Sekaar

TBH I would just increase duration of all buffs for all classes to 1 hour, as it is in WOW for example. The constant rebuffing is the one single thing I hate most about the combat in ESO.

Necro needs these following things: Important buffs like sorcery/brutality Better pets: we all know blastbones is drunk but I'm not referring to that, I mean the mender and skeleton, the guardian version of mender is okay but personally I think they need to remove the health bar the guardian has, it's already super high costing skill and the fact it can die from too much damage means you can burn your magic very quickly when getting zerged open world. Intensive mender needs to have a bigger heal over time, or some other utility maybe more passive sustain or bigger healing, but currently it's not even worth running when you can just slot vigor instead(except for activating necro passives) Better class synergy: they need to have in class sources of abilities/buffs that are relevant to class passives. Give people reason to play into their class skills, currently they do not functionally work at all together. They have a passive(death knell) that increase their crit chance to low health targets which seems like it's meant to give you execute pressure, but they have no in class execute. They have a dot passive (rapid rot) despite having a SINGLE damage over time skill in their kit (shocking siphon) and magic blastbones also buffs dot effects despite not having any dots other than siphon, no sense at all here. Their flame skull/venom skull skill also does not benefit from any class passives either because it doesn't fit into any of these camps either. Point being synergy is not here, you have so many skills doing a bunch of things that end up not being worth crap because the skill has no direction. Better sustain: There is too many skills in this class tool kit that are worth 4k or more, why?? Why is everything expensive, it's like zos has never heard of resource management

All Zos has to do is revert the change to graveyard and harmony and this class has the best AOE burst in the game again. This was my main for years and I loved it. But you couldn’t spam it, because it’s on a 20 second cooldown, and with Necro having no easy access to a CC because you can’t fit one on your bar, it had the downside of having to basically rope-a-dope opponents until you could line up the burst again. Anyways, I have little hope ZOS does anything beneficial for this class. They would have to revamp the entire toolkit due to what most necro players HAVE to run on their skill bars. There’s no flex spots because it has to work for every buff it gets.

Necro PvE healer/Necro PvP harbinger tank EU main since Elsweyr chapter here. They are essentially useless now. Buff management in PvE is ridiculously sweaty, e.g. why the hell they prohibited pre-buff with mag skeleton outside the fight makes no freaking sense to me. The utility in a dungeon without graveyard tends to zero. In PvP I used to stay in the middle of a zerg for 10s of minutes while the waves of flesh hit me and some of them would lay dead to be consumed afterwards. That was truly necromantic immersion. Yes, nowadays you might stay alive on a permablock tank, but not for a long time and being just a meaningless beacon there. I agree with all your suggestions here. All the necro nerfs over past 2 years were just completely unfair, as for me. And recent pseudo-fixes didn't do anything good to the class.

Ive tried to build a Poison based BowCro but the sets to boost poison are just not there either. This class overall is a complete letdown.

I agree with everything here. I am so bummed out that I can't play the class I came back to the game to play. Atleast make it viable - and communicate something ZOS, please. Necro is the only class I really want to play, but I just can't make it work. It's also too much work even trying.

Necromancer would be an easy class to figure out.. if they understood the lure better behind necromancy... The class should center around the necronomicon... Which deals with dark sigil magic.. a chaotic magic rune system... HP Lovecraft should be the absolute authority on this... Apocrypha is already inspired by it... A necromancer should inspire fear The Master of Life and death...

The issue is that the devs clearly don't know the class. Losing stalking BB for something that creates more complexity means it was not tested. It's simply changes to justify their job. Necromancer was nerfed because they wrongly associated the class as the cause of people leaving the game in combination with the combat lead being a stealth nb main. Harmony damage could have been transferred to the necro passives which are really lackluster atm. I mean you could add major vuln and cowardice to skulls and the class would still be bad. The devs have clearly checked out and it shows. Incompetence on multiple levels and it makes you wonder why microsoft still pays them. Another issue at the core is the class design. Tethers and headstones are some sort of strange concept and now they are pushing trash sets that are ineffectual to evolve the class into some kind of diablo corpse explosion class...but the new class set functionality doesn't play out that way in pvp. And the people on forums are literally giving them free feedback and they still drag their feet or ignore people. Hire a new combat lead dev. It can't get much worse at this point.

And part of the problem is you need a corpse to do anything... To be a corpse you have to dedicate an entire armor set that sucks.. also I'm a vampire I'm dead.. any vampire in the game should count as a corpse. It is the master of life and death it's a necromancer... The cast times take too Long it messes up my DPS.

There was a thread that was on the front page of their forums for 3 months about Stalking Blastbones and GLS and they didn't even have the integrity to acknowledge it.

I remember when this was Zenimax's baby and they made it seem like they would never nerf it. To think that it's not good atm is fantastic to me. It had it's moments in the beginning when it wasn't balanced but i think it's in a great place, in the grave where it belongs. js
