It really needs a save option, being able to dip in an out and fit it around real life would allow people to progress further. Having to give up after a couple of hours because you have work the next day kills the point of it.

Totally see your point, but I think it's a choice by the devs and not an oversight. Save points aren't a great fit with the format, and since it's endlessly repetitive at least you know you haven't missed anything!

I'm really excited for this update to IA, but the one thing that really needs addressed from the original release is Gothmau's light attack damage. It is absurd to take 90-95% of your health off with a light attack at capped armor considering they also have a fast light attack speed. You just gotta hope the arena he spawns in lets you kite him around easily.

Great guide! Some questions on visions: every time you finish a map you have to choose a new one, do these all stack or does it override your previous choice of vision? Also I have seen streamers that show 3 choices on a vision but I have only ever gotten two choices. Am I missing something??

Visions stack and are permanent, but Verses only last for one room. Once you've unlocked certain achievements you can buy upgrades from the vendor in the Index - that's what grants a choice of 3 instead of 2. Happy hunting!

good changes and all, but still doesn't address that you can only get to higher arcs if you play for hours straight. I'll probably do my dailies with the update but its just not realistic to actually go for a good run. I dont want it easier, just more playable

If you want to score push - sure! I personally don't want to spend for 20+ hours in IA, but I don't have to. Two or three hours of VERY chill play and you can comfortably reach Arc 4 or 5. They are speeding up the early Arc with these updates though. Hope it at least partially addresses your concerns.

I quit doing it because of the miserable drop rate for furnishing plans. Regularly got to arc 5 solo. It was frustrating spending around 4 hours in there just to leave with maybe 1 new plan I didn't know. Any hope for a change in that?

Really?!??!!? I get those dropping so much I barely have time to dog them up! I am sorry to hear that. What I would suggest is to run a couple of Arc and then just reset. I find that things slow way down in higher Arcs and it can certainly feel frustrating not getting what you came for.

I barely get enough archive fortunes after two hours. THAT is my biggest issue. Its takes wayyyy to long to be able to afford anything in the store. Barely 6k fortunes in those two hours is ridiculous. Should be 20k in two hours so you can at least get one or two things out of the store. I hear you get crazy amounts on really high tiers, but only the top 1% ever see that. Just like the overwhelming majority of players, I tried it three or four times and found it a huge waste of time. At least in regular dungeons you always get rewarded enough to make it worthwhile. Fix that and I'll be putting in the time.

You're right it takes a while to reach Arc 3/4, which is where the challenge kinda starts for experienced players. I just make sure I bring a squishy, extremely high-damage setup for the first couple of Arcs and everything's dead in seconds. But I think you're focusing too much on the Fortunes. It's not THAT much more generous at higher Arcs, and all the other rewards you get in IA are already better than most activities in the game (plus, it's actual gameplay, not just grind). can someone please tell me how to acquire the new armor sets? i really want to get pyrebrand but i cannot find how to get it anywhere. is it locked behind an achievement? does it drop? is the merchant supposed to sell it? all i can find is that it comes from infinite archive which isn't helpful at all.

Hey there! The patch isn’t out yet - August 19th as it says in the video. All the Archive sets drop from Tho’at Replicanum, the final boss of each Arc, AND from Marauders (random bosses that invade your run once per Arc, from Arc 2 onwards). So the more Arcs you clear, the more guaranteed drops you will get. And once you’ve gathered enough Fortunes (currency) in there you can also buy random curated pieces from each set. However initially you’ll ONLY get drops for the class you’re currently playing (to get Pyrebrand you must bring a DK) and you can still get drops for the existing DK set, so it can take a while. Hope that helps (throw us a sub why don’t ya? 😜). Also you can hit F1 in-game and look these things up in the help menu - lots of info there. Good luck!

The sorc set is interesting - paired with Velothi you get 30% more damage, add a trial set and it's 35%... With Ansuul you have 42% extra damage (/49% for 10 seconds if you interrupt an enemy), but maybe it's better with Sul-xan as a trash setup?

I thought my luck would be in when you said easier , I can barely do Arc 1 , done it once , deffo can't kill this dragon at the end of this new one . And now I have to watch the skies for meteors , so now it actually got harder for me . I have arthritis in my hands , can only play one bar builds and only have overland sets because I don't do any harder dungeons past Fungal and spindle . It can get very painful and am just not fast any more . I'd love to get some of the loot from there but have to say I haven't done it too many times and never looted any plans / leads or even a sniff at a chest . Great vid though , thanks .

Good to see this content expand, it is my favourite content they've made (beside scribing).. but I'm really sad 95% of the sets are still useless. So many lack identity doing nothing to highlight the skill line they focus on, don't do enough dps, healing, or tanking to replace generic sets, and are simply boring as 5 pieces. It would have made much more sense if they were 2 or 3 piece sets. Of all the ones coming up, it looks like the Warden Eagle and DK Fire ones are decent for dps.. but everythinf else doesnt compete. Tell me how they've left Monolith of Storms in the same state they created it in? It's unusable, and the new Daedric one is following the same path. Tanks, healer, dps, and pet dps are better off using anything else. All this makes me not want to play IA because the rewards stink.

The updates as a whole do make EARLY Arcs a bit easier and a lot more engaging and fun. I say that as someone who never particularly wanted this type of content in ESO.

I however try to invest myself seriously in it, reaching higher arcs. So I fear in my case that the environment becoming a threat would be yet another danger added, which could ruin a run in higher arcs... The new visions added doesn't seems potent enough to compensate for that in higher arcs (arc 6 or 7), so as a whole I fear IA will become harder on average for players attempting record runs...

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like you've been unlucky - maybe try approaching the content for it's own sake, then getting the Torc is just a nice bonus. Or use one of the many other Mythic options. Nothing is worth grinding for like that.

Eso needs a hardcore mode for world. You would select that option at login, basically everything has % higher defense and dps. Open world drops would have unique color on effects. This would only be for open world and quests.

But we keep getting fucked by zos being determined to make us a glorified poison class. But remember to consider: a) other viewpoints - many players want Necro to have NO pets (I disagree, but I see this complaint regularly) b) the Necro already does everything this avatar can, just on a smaller scale c) balance - this avatar would be insanely broken outside the Archive d) performance & clutter - Necros with 10+ pets would be a nightmare (imagine Sorcerers with a dozen Scamps ... )

Eh I don’t think this has gotten any easier, per se, and it won’t due to the randomness. You can have a “good luck” run or a “bad luck” run; depending on which characters the RNG decides to randomly throw at you. I’m all for difficulty and it being a trial to actually complete, but, the overall logic, IMO is a tad too sloppy. There are some classes that are just a near impossible mix for some of the bosses that randomly get given to you if you’re doing a solo run. On a duo run; sure, open the full book; but for those running solo it wouldn’t be hard to reference the player class versus the litany of available boss characters and create a viable table. Especially since IA bosses have a degree of additional mechanics here. In this way you can get a difficulty element but you don’t run the risk of players grinding through multiple stages only to be thrown a boss with mechanics that they have no chance of combating.

Did they pay you for this hyper hype review? :P Personally, as a casual player, I think the changes are anti-casual. More everything means more effort needed to understand, more things to look for during fights, more things to kill you right away if you havent put hours to study every guide and every boss. More visions and effects means less chance to get desirable ones for your build. A truly pro-casual move would be to remove this stupid 3 lives for example by introducing mode without scoreboards / shutting dwon scores after 3rd death, and/or incuring some penalty on Archive Fortunes earned from 3rd death on. This would allow you to train on particularry hard bosses, to lear the mechanics on higher arcs without need to run the fhole thing for few hours before getting to arc 4 or 5. I'm dissapointed in this update.

Why do people struggle to believe that someone on the internet can actually LIKE something? Of course nobody paid us. We just went on PTS to test things for our viewers and (as people who aren’t *especially* keen on IA) we were quite impressed. Hopefully when you try it you’ll feel similarly, and if not at least it’s clear that ZOS are trying to please more casual players (even if it didn’t work in your very specific case). Hard to complain about that.

IA just ruined my experience with it. Havent played much since its release. Came back to game and thought "hey i like that nb mask the set has" i opened maybe 15 (2k coffers) finally got a head piece and it doesnt add to my collection. Its in the OTHER vendor where its also random and costs 12k ea. Im done. Is it that my fault for lack of research? I guess so. Is it extremely repetitive and boring? Yes. That style page will wait.

"easier" and "more fun" do not go together. this game has always lacked in challenge and seems like dev team is continuing on that road. "game for everyone" policy sucks. I am a Wow mythic veteran and raided in top100 guilds and ran mythic+ dungeons among the top tier and I can assure you all there is a huge cap and difference when comparin ESO and Wow challenge wise. Hardest content in Eso can be easily done with random people collected through zone chat and random guild member invites. You do not need to check their backgrounds. In Wow, when new raid comes and long after that, it is enough hard to get random group to survive even heroic mode. In mythic dungeon+ after 15key level it is basically no go with a random group, you actually need to have people with good gear and understanding about the mechanics. The reason why Eso lacks player numbers in comparison to other mmorpg titles is this. When crown store and home building is the end game, only casuals will remain. I am still waiting for new good mmorpg because Wow is done for me after 15-16 years and I remain in Eso only because I do not like those eastern world anime BS like black desert online of final fantasy.

100% agree that easy ≠ fun. That's why this update is interesting - ZOS are not just dumbing it down (which they've been guilty of in the past - see Frostvault). But your impression of ESO's PvE endgame is completely wrong. Pick up groups completing the newest hard modes? No chance. Many struggle even on the lowest difficulty - not because the content is HARD but because the combat system is deep and complex (VERY different to typical MMOs) and most players dive in before they have a firm grasp on it. Also agree there's too much Crown Store stuff. Thanks for the comment!

If there wasnt a stupid dragon or one shot mechs, id go there more often. With the oakensoul ring youre limited to one bar, that is already tough enough on a melee class. IA like 90 percent of the content in ESO is for ranged characters. Easier to stay out of a dumb one shot aoe and fire you weapon then it is to stand face to face with the mob. ZOS hates melee characters. Most mobs you cant stand there and "tank" like a tank should. Teleports and running around make a tank useless. Taunts are nice for a tank UNLESS YOURE RUNNING AROUND the entire match chasing some dumb mob. And whats this slowing down shit when approaching a fight? Thats the stupidest thing about the game, if youre going to fight a mob, common sense said you would get there QUICKLY, but NNNNOOOOO, you have to waste half of your stamina sprinting to the mob. Oh and another thing, EVERY single mob has a trap? Where does a rat keep a trap? In his ass? And still in combat 3 maps later gets old quick too

We do not need easier, the game is already stupid easy. This casual "game for everyone" policy sucks. That is the biggest flaw in this game and reason why it is not as popular as other bigger mmorpg titles.

If this was true, then why didn't the game do better when it released? Things were more challenging back then. Yet it flopped overall. It's audience is mostly casual, so why wouldn't they cater to that? Maybe this game just isn't for you and that's fine, not for me either honestly. But it's hard to ignore comments like this when the "hardcore" crowd is never large enough to sustain anything. Wildstar being a prime example in my eyes, an mmo designed for our kinda crowd. Look how that turned out

@@Adalon- Eso had major problems during the launch and had major problems long after that. It was well known amongst mmorpg fans and that is why they lost popularity right at the beginning. I even remember while playing Wow, people often talked about if Eso was still unplayable. Fancy that you do not recall this. There have then been times Eso has had some surges in popularity but only momentarily and during expansion releases. It is a casual mmorpg and that is a deal breaker for great many players. Why is Wow keeping its popularity even still? Because it is very competitive game and continues to be so, it might be hard to swallow pill for casuals but the amount of competition fans is surprisingly huge. I remember hearing many many years how Wow players have wished for "wow 2" and Eso could very well become just that if they would embrace the competitive side that Wow offers. Yes I know we have "some" ranking stuff and competition in Eso too, but it is practically non existent versus what Wow has. And the lore fan base in these two games is not that different, wide scale of people love elder scrolls lore just as people love warcraft lore. I am not going into numbers because I do not know, but I am sure they are not that far from each other. So.. Why is Eso lacking in popularity? It in many ways even offers more content than Wow and other mmorpg titles. It does many things way better and is graphically somewhat fresh. You can even play it for free whereas Wow and other games have mandatory monthly fee. I have thought about this for a long time and I am 99% sure if Eso would embrace player vs. player pve competition and raise the challenge bar in pve side and let us have public data to be used in output meters and to have external sites to list rankings and implement a dungeon+ system.. We would see a spike in popularity. And I too like the game, I log in almost daily, I too miss Wow also but there are things that I got fed up with why I try to stay out of it. Still waiting for that next big mmorpg.. My point is, Eso could be just that with some modification to their policy. Just and honest opinion.
