Ah, I missed Maelstrom so much. Thanks for doing this! One thing I love about Maelstrom is that, if one objective becomes too difficult/impossible to achieve, you can discard it to draw one you can hopefully accomplish. In the 9th Edition missions, if you can't get the primaries or are denied your secondaries, you are kinda screwed. I really think that the most recent rules for Maelstrom decks helped that random factor a lot. And yes: more Maelstrom please! Maybe do a mix for those that do not like Maelstrom? And we see the possible issues with castles around explosive units. :) Poor Luka.

Maelstrom is the best mission type, period. Not the most competitive but a fun one and quite unpredictable. That's why I've recently purchased mission pack cards - for variety of options and some mystery on top of it.

MOAR! I love these Maelstrom style games. Seeing the same "Take and Hold" mechanics over and over isn't as fun, and I like that this format makes different types of lists more viable so we can see more mechanics, more models, and just enjoy the fun of the game instead of trying to be "good".

To answer your first question steve, the deffkilla wartrike is still a useable hq, mainly for those who don’t access to forgeworld funds, but also it’s a big footprint to soak up space and being a character of less than 10 wounds means people will struggle to shift him

I tend to use both a Deffkilla and Warboss on Bike. The bike may have the better stat line and more customisable, but I love the dakka on the deffkilla (especially the Killa Jet, which I managed to make Assault 6 and Damage 2 during a recent crusade campaign! Yumm Toasty Primaris)...

Worth it if you're going up against anythibg that's heavy on the FNP like DG, Iron Hands or Custodes. I had an overlord with honorable combatant and voidreaper one shot Typhus in my last game.

Would like to see Silent King and more C'tan. Can Tau do any better with the 8th edition missions than the do with the 9th edition mission?

The Ork warboss on bike had to come back just because it was the only thing you can really take for Speed freaks, besides the trike. Warboss on bike is just better and more thematic. Also, no one wants to be forced to get new models, right Marine players??

In all honesty, 9e missions kinda bore me after half a dozen games and feel very samey. the mission is always control X number of objectives, control X+1, and control more than your opponent. and frankly I rarely see people use more than the same handful of secondaries each game. It feels so stagnant 8th missions where you didn't know your objectives until the turn of, or where some of the objective markers would move in some missions THAT was fun and exciting. it made things unique.

Voidreaper ignores Feel No Pain checks, not Invulnerable Saves.

Wartrike has the vehicle keyword, and several guns, so it gives you a little more shooting, and can also shoot while engaged. It also has a once per game auto 6in move to keep up with your speedwaagh and a larger base to spread buffs around more effectively. On a lesser note it unlocks a mortal wound strat. Its not redundant, but it is a tradeoff.

Hey Steve, the Big Shoota from the Megatrakk Scrapjet has Bs 4+ because of the Grot Gunner. It's not in the codex, but it is in the FAQ's. They forgot to add it, somehow. As "everybody else": Yes, Boss on Bike makes Wartrike redundant, there is little to not real reason to take wartrike over boss on bike. As Ork: I have no idea, but we've always had the KFF Mek, and then suddenly it dissapears? Same for Boss on Bike? Boss on Bike didn't even got deleted to Legends, btw. It was outright removed. The FAQ simply states "Remove this datasheet". Mek workshop only Kustom jobs? Maybe with 9th in mind where upgrades for captains cost points instead of CP, but currently, the only way for Orks to bring a Mek Workshop is to spend a CP for the detachement it can come in with (Fortification network, if I'm not mistaken) and then you get a "free" Kustom job, which in reality costs you 80 points, a detachement and a CP...

Talking about the deff killa war trike and Warboss on bike, I find deff killa wartrike works nicely with warboss and nobs on bikes because it give them waggghh not that you need it that much but I guess if your chasing round elder or something having that super ranged charge is pretty nice! Its also fun to waaagggh bikes wherever you want

@Steve Yeah, totally agree about the Warboss on Bike. Compared to the wartrike, he's better in every regard. He's faster, hits harder, has better access to relics, cheaper and most importantly, he doesn't take up nearly as much space. You of course noticed you can make him Da Biggest Boss, but you can also give him Squig Hide Tyres to make him even more ludicrously fast. For the warlord traits, you have some pretty spicy options. The most popular is Tough as Nails - a T8, 4++ bikerboss is something to behold. The second is probably going to be Follow Me Ladz, to let him regain access to the run/charge for infantry.

Steve, I think the reason why kustom jobs became a stratagem was because the Mek workshop is so horrible and useless. You give up shooting and charging for one vehicle parked next to the workshop for a turn in order to gain a temporary buff. It's an 85 point model whose points could be better spent literally anywhere else.

The Maelstrom of War objectives seem like a real faff to deal with and makes it tougher for someone watching to tell who's winning, who needs to do what, if someone is doing well, etc. The 9th Ed objectives might lead to what you felt was gamey (but it is less so in AoS despite similar 'stand on the point' scoring?) ways of playing but they at least made it pretty clear what's going on!

Hey guys. When an explosion occurs and deals D3 or D6 damage, do you roll one die for all the units nearby and they take that damage, or do you roll for each unit individually for individual damage?

Each unit that would be in the explosion range will roll for its own damage due to the explosion

Still watching, so i´m not sure if it even matters. But the voidreaper does not ignore invuls. It just ignores shrugoffs or any other ability to ignore dmg.# Edit: So it did matter. The Overlord just killed stuff without it doing saving throws. Happens i guess. Without this misiinterpretation of the rule, the orcs would have crushed the necs. Feels bad as necron player :(

When Steve was rolling his ruktrukk squigbuggy, doesn’t the big gun have squib targeting so would hit on 4s? Also doesn’t the megatrakk scrapjet have 2 twin big shootas, and one hits on 4s?

1st off Luka those wraiths are beautifully painted 2nd I wouldn’t mind more maelstrom mission types but I would say that a change would be that you use secondaries from 9th and not the boring basic 8ths

With regards to Ork's and the Mechshop. That sounds like some pretty Orky logic to me. They all believed they didn't need the mechshop and now they don't lol

Mailstrom was a mixed bag for me. I only drew cards I couldn’t possibly do while my opponent just had to castle in his deployment on his objectives to out score me.

Why for the love of god wouldn't you screen the monolith with the scarabs?

theyve mismanaged the monolith before. In a 9th necron vs ultramarine game he kept his monolith in deep strike until T3 only to deep strike it in his own deployment zone. UM had nothing to get close enough to focus the monolith on deployment, but the monolith could outrange most of the UM stuff. So the monolith literally lost 2 rounds of damage dealing. When it did land on the board it started wrecking stuff badly.

@@Traqqer1 he got charged anyway. He could easily have screened in away to prevent the orks consolidate into the monolith. Sure he would lose some range so the flux arc won't shoot turn1 . But he could even if the monolith counter charges it is pretty good with 6 auto hits doing 3 damage each

I'd like to see something different from you guys with Ork models. Even if they aren't as effective. Edit: the Deathskulls dont look very deathskully; no blue, no lootas, no painboy, no looted junk vehicles, no burnas, no meks and spanners. It's kind of not in the spirit of the lore.
