I really enjoy MWG for the fact that they almost always play off meta. In ANY game people get so engrained in the meta thats all they do, but here you get to see other strategies and see why some of the rules are there. It nice seeing all the options explored, even if theres a reason they arent meta they can still work and be fun. Also win or lose i love watchin Sisters play.

"How should I use the Miracle Die?" ... to win! To eliminate variability! To make those clutch damage rolls or saves! To guarantee advances/charges with the Repentia! To crush your opponents hope! Quick note: Penitent Engines don't have the "Adepeta Sororitas" keyword, so you could not have used the "Holy Rage" strat in Turn 2. I'd love to see a slightly more optimized list to really see how the Sisters shine, but a fun game nonetheless!

Haven't finished watching yet but is sure to be great! Just one note: the repentia with the imagifier buff would only be S7, not 8 as GW changed how strength modifiers to the models from auras, stratagems, etc are now applied concurrently alongside modifiers from their weapons, in the order of division, multiplication, addition then subtraction. Excerpt from 9th ed Core Rules (page 203): "Example: A Space Marine Seargent (Strength characteristic 4) is making an attack with a power fist (Strength characteristic x2) while under the effects of a psychic power that increases his Strength characteristic by 1. The two modifiers (x2 and +1) are cumulative and applied concurrently. The attack is therefore resolved at Strength 9 ([4x2]+1=9)."

The miracle die was used before the die was rolled, he held off on rolling the last save. Since attacks are technically supposed to be resolved one at a time it can be done in this way.

@@drizzt8886 While multiple may be rolled at the same time for Fast Dice Rolling saving throws are not a single roll of multiple dice they are a series of individual dice rolls (as described on pages 220-221 of the core rule book the attack sequence is resolved one at a time) so the "Before making a dice roll" applies before each of them. The contrast of this would be something like a charge roll, which is a single roll of multiple dice and in that case the decision to use miracle dice must be made before rolling either of the dice in the charge.

Imagifier + Repentia is Str 7 by 9th edition. Rules mention specifically that buffs follow the order of operations. It does not matter that the Imagifer gives +1 Str to "the profile". It's Str (3*2)+1 = 7

My favorite things to use Miracle Dice for: + 1s and 2s for Leadership + 2s and 3s for stratagems that don't care about the dice results + 3s and 4s for hits and wounds rather rarely (a little more limited for this particular match up with that -1 to hit and custodes transhuman rolling around) + 4s thru 6s for damage, charge rolls (esp long-bombs for deep strike and strategic reserves), invulnerable saves, and *very rarely* advances. My personal favorite is invulnerables because getting to just say nope to that critical lascannon aimed at your tank is great, and most characters having a 4++ are that much more obnoxious to take out.

I remember what was bothering me about this game. I think it was this game. Matt, your Sisters Repentia are S7 - they changed the rules for 9th so that they are mathematically correct based on standard order of operations. A space marine Sergeant with +1 strength and a power fist will only be S9, for the same reason.

@@viewtifuljoe4412 A good way to handle Custodes is to specialize in -3 AP weapons that are anti tank. A lot of them are 4++ saves with T5. Anti tank at least ensures 3+ to wound and you can reliably force them onto the invul save even if they are in cover.

They FAQ'd the Rod of Office to require a Plasma Pistol and Power Sword loadout on the Canoness, probably because it's what the Canoness from the special box is modelled with. Edit: And the Imagifier does have the (Order) keyword, she can benefit from Convictions

From what TableTop Titans says you want to be playing at least 2 large units of Repentia with Retributors. I think it's a great time save to pull models if there is a lot of dice and only 1 or 2 models left, but for things with a large amount of wounds "incidental" fire can actually still kill things so it should be rolled out. That's my perspective on it anyways.

The simulacrum comes free on an extra battle sister, you could splash those around in units that would like those dice. Dominions, retributors, etc.

Seraphim would have been nice in this list with twin inferno pistols as would putting those meltagun dominions in reserve. That -1 to hit really hurt the shooting along with those invuln saves. It was an interesting list investing so much into Sacred Rose Repentia and not electing to fight first with them.

Penitent Engines can't use the advance and charge strat, there's really no reason to ever use them. Also Immolators have a hull mounted heavy bolter.

Maybe I'm missing something because none of my armies have Storm Shields, but I thought they gave you +1 to your armor saving throw and had a 4++ not a 3++ now. Are they different for Custodes?

reading through my space wolves codex and noticed something. Resolve of the Bear (SW warlord trait) says you cant re-roll wound rolls or damage rolls against the character with that trait. does this stop a sisters player from substituting a dice from their miracle dice pool to boost a wound roll or damage roll or does the fact of the miracle dice being a substitution rather than an explicitley stated re-roll take precidence over the Warlord Trait?

In fact, the miracle dice is not a re-roll. You declare what dice of your "pool of miracles" are you using, and you get that result without rolling at all. What's more, you cannot use the miracle dice as a reroll, you have to declare it instead of rolling the dice. So I would say that the warlord trait does not stop miracles to happen :)

In regards to always rolling dice, the numbers aren't quite the same but I've seen 6 natural 20s in a row, so to me even 20 genestealers in melee could deal 0 damage, weird dice rolls happen

Yes, roll the dice, play games where people actually try to play and not just do some wierd hijink where they either win or die in the first turn. Play the games out.

Suuuuuper small thing but the Vexilla with sheild and misericordia cannot use the misericordia. Misericordias say "if the berrar dose not have a Storm sheild". Better off putting one on a bike or spear. Love the show *(try melta missels on the bikes some time super fun/good)

This confused me too. Only way to get a Rod of Office is with Plasma Pistol + Power Sword... Unless he's using Legends, in which case, there are probably more options. Idk.
