Thanks for the mention, Nick. It's nice to hear that kind of feedback, because we understood the risk that we were taking when incorporating a gimmick into the album structure, and wanted to make sure we always do right by the songs first. If we didn't think it was working out or flowing naturally, we would have just abandoned the idea, but it kept sounding like the pieces were just naturally falling into place and the momentum managed to carry us to the end in a way that surprised even us, so we were very excited to finally get it out and hear if other people agreed it was a successful effort. So far we're happy and relieved to hear people commenting and confirming that it was managed and executed well. Thanks again.

I've listened to over 400 metal albums this year. I'm pretty sure that's a new record for me, haha. I always rank them on Metalstorm, and this thing was in my top 10. I'll look forward to going through your discography

Necrotic Nick- Hey! Not a problem, guys! You 2 did an incredible job on that album and with the more avant-garde stuff I can be hard to please. I like that the atmosphere was balanced out with the riffs and at no point did I think it became so strange that it lost the sense of the songs themselves. The 7 theme worked well and when I saw it was laid out that way I was wondering how it would translate but it worked insanely well. You guys deserve the praise and I'm already looking forward to what you guys do next. Take care, guys!

Another great list! And totally agree with you re Morbid Saint - I had decided they were very much a 'one and done' with Spectrum of Death (which is AMAZING), so when I saw a new track pop up in youtube I was pretty skeptical. But I was wrong - an absolute banger, in an album full of bangers. Now we just need some live shows! And also: DRILLLLLL THE SKULLLLLL - possibly my song of the year!
@thrallsofmetal6 күн бұрын
Necrotic Nick- Thanks, man! Yeah, Morbid Saint came back almost as viciously as the band entered the fray. Matching their debut and even their 2 album was a tough one but man did they manage one hell of a comeback. Yeah, that chorus on Drill the Skull might live rent free in my head too lol.

Good to see, that there's no 'recency bias' in your list, Nick, so that a great album like that Necrowretch release from much earlier in the year gets a well deserved place. 👍 (...other Melechesh/Nile adjacent bands this year include Apep and Al-Namrood..) Also great that Civerous gets such a high placement; totally awesome album from them, that actually gets an even higher ranking on my list.. and you are right: album closer 'Geryon (the Plummet)' is one of the best tracks of the entire year! 👌 ..and like you, that Judas Priest release also just missed my top 10, which actually pains me, 'cos I just love and respect that legendary band and album so freaking much... ❤️ Only two albums on here, that I just don't 'get': that Pallbearer release was too damn 'anemic' for my taste; I mean, almost NOTHING happens on that album.. zzzzzzz...🥱 And that Unto Others album just reminded me, how much I dislike goth creeping into my metal.. no thanks! (The Tribulation album was even worse.. ) 🤗 Looking forward to your top 10! 😎🤘
@thrallsofmetal6 күн бұрын
Necrotic Nick- Generally all throughout November I'm going back and jamming favorites over the whole year when I'm not reviewing something just to see how well everything I liked earlier held up. Necrowretch and Judas Priest were earlier in the year but they didn't lose much steam at all. Civerous was such a banger. I returned to that one a lot. Yeah, I can see the arguments against Pallbearer and Unto Others. Even some of the fans were divided on those but I honestly dug the hell out of them.
@Count_Deangeli8 күн бұрын
Glad to see Mother Of Graves here, I listen a lot of death doom but I'm afraid very few bands manage to create their own distinctive sound (including Mother Of Graves). Back in the day the Peaceville 3 didn't have problem with that - you needed to hear just few second to recognize them
@thrallsofmetal6 күн бұрын
Necrotic Nick- Mother of Graves does that Peaceville sound justice but they also add enough distinction to not just come off as a "worship & tribute" band. It's gloomy and oppressive as hell but it so damn loaded with melody too. Just solid old school deathdoom.

Honestly, I'm surprised you liked it more than Oxygen Destroyer

This year has been wild for music and i feel like I didnt get to as much as i should, but what can you do. Honorable Mention 1.) Kinship - IOTUNN. Honorable mention 2.) Sear Bliss Heavinly down. Who the hell knew Atmospheric Black Metal needed more Trombone, i sure as hell didnt but man did i enjoy the hell out of it.
