I am really enjoying this series. I also find it humorous that Ned would go about taking people hostages and by the time he left almost everyone not only didn't have a grudge for being held hostage, but actually became fierce supporters for Ned's gang.

"So, I have to sit here quietly for a few hours and chat with a legendary criminal/folk hero before said hostage-taker buys me a beer and possibly destroys huge chunks of my debt record?" Anyone who finds a complaint in that isn't normal. Free alcohol and a reduced debt load are excellent motivators.

Especially in Australia. You could shank me and hold me hostage for two days and I'd forgive you if you bought me a 24-pack of beer afterwards. Yep, nothing wrong with a good old stab 'n' slab.

triplehood - well tv series would fit better because the format is about 30min chunks stretching to be a much longer narrative, a movie and a single solid experience that tends to run for about 2 hours. Basically the tv series is much more digestible.

True, I'm not saying you're wrong or anything ... actually I think you're completely correct. It's just because you use the word 'quality'. This part, and the next part i'm guessing, were the basis of a play I did in High school. It was a really fun story to tell. I played a banker at the bank Kelly stole from.

Jellybean Ned Kelly was a stand-over thug who threatened people with death if they did not obey him to the letter. Many suffered mentally for the rest of their lives.

New favorite person in history, he let the man finish his bath. Ive seen, in video games, goons of bad guys have scrapped together birthday parties put together by their coworkers. Then the "hero" kills them all.

Another great episode, but I was a bit disappointed the Jerilderie Letter mention. It contained one of the greatest insults ever put to paper. In Ned's words, the Victorian police were "a parcel of big ugly fat-necked wombat headed big bellied magpie legged narrow hipped splaw-footed sons of Irish Bailiffs or English landlords".

Bank Manager back then (and still do now) Do not exactly make a huge amount of money; it would be the regional or district managers who would be higher up on the food chain. It would be a comfortable amount of money, but not enough to relax or become idle.
