Great video John. Interestingly, I grew upon in Ks. In the 60’s and 70’s and while these weren’t available commercially back then we used this exact technique making our own jig heads and using night crawlers. Very effective in the creeks and farm ponds. Thanks for sharing.

I recently started using the ned rig and it's my go to lure! I was killing it last week with it! I thought maybe the bass were just going to bite anything so I threw the lipless crankbait, swimbait, and topwater. They didn't bite on any of it. Went back to the ned rig and they starting biting again.

Good video John!! I've been doing this technique for many years. Love it!!!! Funny how I used to get picked on for " fishin those silly little worms that only catch dinky fish". Now I'm asked to teach someone what I do. Walking out the door to go drown some drop craws and thought I'd watch one more time. Good luck in Tennessee tournament 👍

Thanks John. I use it on 2 different rods I own. 1 is medium 7ft, 1 is medium light 6 ft. The 6ft rod is a crappie rod but works great for casting accuracy. I prefer mono, 6 lb on 6 free, 8 lb on 7 ft rod. Also the medium light can throw those 1/32 oz Ned rigs further.

It works in shallow and deep water. Just bump your weight up. Fished on flooded timber Texas rigged w a pegged 1/16 oz bullet weight and caught bass w/o hanging up w jig head. Fished submerged weeds Texas rigged w/o jig head w less hang ups and caught fish. It's my go to bait this winter so far. Looking forward to spring and summer.

Thanks for the info, I thought you were just supposed to drag it on the bottom. Makes more sense the way you described, because that little bait can be hard to see unless it's a clear bottom. I throw a 1/5 and 1/6 oz Zman head with a variety of baits, but I like the Zman TRD craws. I did just get some Missle Baits for my drop shot bait, too bad everything is starting to ice over here and I'll have to wait 4 months to try it out.

Do you ever use a swivel for line twist, or does the braid eliminate that. I've used the ned rig on straight mono, and literally the line twist gets so bad, and can't even fish
@JohnCrews3 жыл бұрын
That’s really odd. You might be letting the bait spiral down too much. The braid does help though

Funny, my Bud was telling me about this NED rig. He wasn't sure of the details, so I watched this video. This is what is funny to me. We used this tech decades ago, yes, decades ago. It did not have a name given it. It was just another way to fish. Now they give it a name, tell you need to have a certain rod, reel, line, weight, well you get the picture. Such BS, to get you to go out and buy buy buy. Put a 1/16 jig head on any appropriate lure and you will catch a lot of fish.
