Very helpful information. Our foundation has been working with an Advisory Board since incorporation. However, I think it's time to set up a Working Board as this would suit our needs more. Can you also explain the difference between an Advisory Board and Governing Board?

An Advisory Board would typically be a group of volunteers offering insights (sometimes on a specific topic, such as the social issue the nonprofit was formed to solve). They do not have a vote on the board. A governing board IS the board - they vote.
