You give no reason as to WHY Disney/Lucasfilm have just NOW started to take action against Aperion. It's a free mod.

This is not mod. "Mod" does not exists in legal terms. Free mod isn't any excuse and cannot be used to defend it. Mods are not protected. Mods are not legal. EULA of products like video game may or may not contain permission to "mod" the game by injecting additional files within the structure of already existing product. This is a "mod". And this does not prevent any IP owner from selectively shutting down some mods while allowing other to exist. Apeiron is not mod. Frankly, it is serious intellectual property theft :D First of all, Apeiron being standalone project makes it unlicensed derivative work based on already existing IP. That's really bad. Secondly, the whole idea of "player must have original copy of KotOR" made it even less safe. Argument of original copy just hide the fact that legally speaking Apeiron would extract sound effects from original game and use it in their own executable, basically stealing it directly rather than just making new asset based on old one.

1. Requirment of having old files is not helping. It makes this situation even worse. Legally speaking this is IP thievery since standalone product Apeiron requires to extract data from other product - KotOR. 2. Bethesda is not owner of TES rights. Zenimax is. Look at the legal "stamp" under every official website devoted to TES games. 2.1. Also Bethesda is not person. It cannot speak. Developers - people who work on code, are not official representatives. People who code, draw textures, design models, etc. have shit to say about who may or may not make stuff like Skywind. Either CEO or legal representative must release official press release about it. Either way it is not legally bidning and they may send ceast and desist letter 10 min before release of those standalone remakes. 3. Again. Skywind and other projects are not mods for TES games. They are standalone products. 4. And the logic "It's allowed because it's not forbidden." is great. Its just that you're not so much educated in copyrights, so you don't realize that it is forbidden. It's just all original narrative and artistic elements of KotOR are protected by copyright laws by default. Just like in all other video games or other types of media. You cannot remake them without proper license from the IP owner.

2. It kinda is, because many times I hear about Bethesda's opinion when I read stuff from modding community. They kinda ignoring Zenimax and it wi bite everyone in the ass. 2.1. That's still a problem. If they don't make clear that mods are coo, then by defaut those are not cool. 3. My mistake. What I wanted to say is that Skywind is standalone project from to point of view of Morrowind. Skyrim and Morrowind are separate IP. They share the same trademark but legally speaking they are separate intellectual properties and being mod for Skyrim does not change the fact that they brake EULA and copyrights of Morrowind.

I'll sign, but your gonna have to get this out there publicly for fans who wanted to sign.
I like your enthusiasim on this but it's not the first time Lucasfilm get in the way of cool individuals who wanted to put in cool things to the Star Wars franchise. Petitions wont help.

Communist Weeb petition does help! It may not be from Aperion but they will make it themselves
