I have an appointment this Friday for my initial consultation for radiation therapy. Your video was very helpful to me. I had a bilateral mastectomy three weeks ago and the cancer was in my right breast. I have afib, so I am concerned about any damage to my heart from radiation. After radiation, I will be looking at five years of hormone therapy. God has taken care of me thus far and I know He will continue to hold my hand through, for me, this unfamiliar journey. I pray your radiation went well. Diane

So sorry my response is tardy; too many balls in the air here. Of course, discuss your concerns with your team. My radiation plan and physiology was such that my heart was not impacted (also cancer in my right breast). Agree. The journey will be challenging but you are not alone AND you can do it. ❤️🫂🤟 Be well, Jen

Thank you so much for the information. Currently Diagnosed stage 2 breast cancer with lymph node involvement. 4 years ago I had a thyroidectomy stage 2 so I went through the radioactive iodine therapy and have to take medication for the rest of my life. I am in New Zealand 🇳🇿 I have not been able to access any information as yet of someone in similar circumstances an what that will mean for me. After hairdressing for many years, my lungs are already compromised, so I will have that question on the top of my list. Your story is very inspirational ✨️🎀✨️

Thanks you Jen. Don't know if you will see this but...i am at the point of "its up to you" as 3 drs are saying. I do not know what to think. I "hear" and "read" so much (+ and -'s) Your input is invaluable. Plus, I'm going to look up and review the sites suggested... thanks again! 🌺

Sorry for delay. You know everything is going crazy here. I can't recommend or dissuade you as I'm not a medical professional but I can share my experience & thoughts. My Dr's wanted me to do radiation. They did not have any evidence to support but intuitively felt it was the correct course. It was a VERY hard decision for me to get it because I just wanted to be done. Since this was my 4x, my family and I made the decision to get radiation. That said, the data shows that I will likely not get breast cancer again but may/will get a cancer in ~20 years because of the cells damaged during rhia treatment. So I guess there is no right answer. Just right for you right now. ❤️🫂🤟 Be well, Jen
