Need someone to save a betta pt. 1

I don’t have a tank to really give this guy the best chance of survival, so I’m hoping someone nearby does. I found him at my local Petco and he wasn’t stressed really badly. He was lying on the bottom of the cup with ammonia in the water. If anyone is near Pennsylvania and is able/willing to help him please reach out and I can meet you somewhere. Otherwise I’ll continue to do my best to care for him in addition to my other bettas.

bro, thats not the correct way to do the salt dip. I usually dip my sick bettas into 1:1 ratio water and salt. and dip them for EXACT 2 minutes, and dont put any medication (except catappa extract). Then i put them back to the realatively smaller tank with shallow water level with catappa (extract), so they dont put so much effort to reach the surface to breathe, to prevent them die from exhaustion.

It seems to be working just fine for them. The medications I use explicitly state when you look them up; that they can be used in dips. The ratio is already mixed with my aquarium water and treated tap. The extract is also optional when you’re doing a dip as it’s better to have it in the aquarium to prevent any bacterial infections. A small dip of tannins won’t do much. They also aren’t sick enough to require a tank half filled. I do watch them and notice if they can handle the filled tank. I would rather them have an extra 2 gallon as to buffer the ph and any other swings since I work 12 hours a day. I appreciate the comment, though I don’t feel this is entirely effective for my bettas. 2 minutes for a dip doesn’t seem like enough unless id try to shock them with 1.01 gravity. Everything I’ve looked at states 5-30 minutes at 1.005. I think you’re assuming these fish are like the ones who can’t swim at all. These guys all show at least some activity and are all on the way to recovery now. I care about these guys too, while yes it’s true to lower the level so they don’t struggle, these guys all have places to perch on the surface with little water movement. I would highly recommend looking up methylene and salt dips on KZbin though. They are used together often to help with ammonia poisoning, which is what I was treating.

​@@dustinchase2294 Well, im happy your betta recovered eventualy. Since here in Indonesia, many breeders and hobbyist struggle to handle sick betta eventhough they suffered (relatively) non-lethal desease. Hope your bettas doing great, bro. Best regards from fellow Indonesian.

@@yosuasanamuri8936 thank you. And I understand the pain. Every time I go to my local pet store it breaks my heart. I’m already considering an upgrade for one of the newer bettas I picked up. She was originally on the bottom so she was in a smaller tank. Now she’s exploring it constantly, so I feel like she needs some place to actually thrive in.

He’s been really cool these past couple days. I wasn’t sure he would make it, but he’s always swimming around his tank now. Only problem is, he won’t eat bloodworms, only live daphnia.
