Need someone to save a betta pt. 2

This was after his salt dip.
I don’t have a tank to really give this guy the best chance of survival, so I’m hoping someone nearby does. I found him at my local Petco and he wasn’t stressed really badly. He was lying on the bottom of the cup with ammonia in the water. If anyone is near Pennsylvania and is able/willing to help him please reach out and I can meet you somewhere. Otherwise I’ll continue to do my best to care for him in addition to my other bettas.

I don’t know that he’s going to be able to recover. He’s refusing food at this point so odds are he was suffering from ammonia poisoning for a while.

Put a peace of garlic in a glass with whater and let him in for 1 min do it 2 days he well get recovery trust me

If it’s ammonia poisoning then there is nothing you can do besides keep him in a clean tank, but a positive is that there’s also nothing to do except keep him in a clean tank. If he starts getting better with nothing but a clean tank then you’ll know your diagnosis was right.

@@chinomile3766 for whatever reason the garlic smell on his food enticed him to eat it. I used garlic guard for this but I was shocked to see it worked. Thanks for the great advice!

Water looks very cloudy which is a very bad sign. please change water 50% add almond leaf extract make the water fully tanned and do frequent water change for a few days hope he will recover. If you have hospital tank shift him there and add almond leaf & rock salt that will be a good initiative too

The water is cloudy due to the api fin rot cure. It has a yellow tint and calls for daily 25% changes with a final 50% on the final day. There’s also chola wood with almond leaves in the water as well. Plus the two sick bettas are getting daily salt+methylene blue dips. I agree 100%, when dealing with a sick fish, daily large water changes are necessary. This is great advice.

Try a saltdip or salt bath 1 week for 5 mins daily

I’ve been trying that for the last couple days and it’s seemed to do pretty well. He’s actively swimming now but he’s a super picky eater. Only thing he will eat is live daphnia, so I’ve got some bloodworms soaking in garlic guard. Hopefully he will eat it.

he may be overwhelmed with the size of the new tank, i had a betta that didnt like big tanks he got super stressed out when we put him in a big 5 gallon tank he just shot around the tank constantly, then he started refusing food, there was nothing wrong with the water in the tank i did all the tests so we got one of those little divided tanks and put him in there without the divider so he would have more space, then i put him in there and he calmed down and just floated around looking at the room, ate right away and everything, we stepped him up in tank sizes slowly so he could adjust, i mean imagine being kept in a closet you're whole life then let out into the "world" how overwhelming would that be, it would be easier to step up the tank sizes if you cant find anything else wrong with him or the water

Have you tried Indian almond leaves and dimming his lights? Bettas can be stressed with high light so he may need some time with less light and tannins

I do have Indian almond leaves in his tank. The light is a possibility, and I lowered the lights in his tank. He definitely does seem to be liking that more. Much more movement and he seems less stressed. He just hates being moved, and spends like 10 minutes calming down if he gets moved from the tank for a dip or something like that.

I need to try epsom salt, especially since I have guppies in another tank which could use those dips every once in a while. Ill have to look into what brands are good to use.

Luckily the sick bettas are recovering so far. its been a lot of work the past couple weeks.

Put it in a cup of water and then put the cup in the freezer for 1 hour..... No need to thank me!

I’ve had to do that in the past, but I think he will be alright. He looked pretty bad when I got him home, but I think that was mostly from the ammonia in his water + the stress of having been moved a lot. I have used this method in the past to euthanize fish that weren’t going to make it though. I’ve ordered some clove oil that’ll be arriving today for a female guppy that recently starting showing bent spine issues. I might have to use it for her sadly, even though I’ve been trying to treat her as well.
