I have a 2007.5 as well 340k, studded at 280k from being left on performance mode for 4 years, bought it at 250k, I would pay some serious cash for a lower mileage example, you know it's gonna last forever if you take decent care of it. I named mine mcnasty, lots of upgrades and parts and time ❤😊

One very important thing probably the most crucial thing to do to that engine is replaced the intake elbow with the grid heater to the banks intake elbow. They have a different style heater that won’t destroy your engine! There’s a bolt right on the grid Heater that will corrode and fall straight into your intake and end up in #6 cylinder and destroy piston, valves and cylinder walls!

Currently own a 01 24 valve. Love the engine, not a fan of the truck itself, mainly from the steering aspect. Looking at an 07.5 6.7 and my biggest worry is continuing steering issues from one truck to the next. Love your vids, beautiful truck

From my past experience, Heim Joints are not meant to drive daily. I had a $7k Cognito lift on my daily GMC. All heims worn out in several months. IMO Heims are for offroad use.

Good video. I bought same truck just double cab not mega cab last year. Bought it off my uncle who only hauled camper in the summer. So only 65000 km (I’m in Ontario Canada) and being in Ontario with road salt used not a spec of rust. Only the emissions delete has been done. Tires and rims on order. Love those headlights you have and the tow mirrors. I’ve seen lots of people say only add 25-50 hp to those transmissions. How much have you added with the things you’ve put in? And notice any ill affects? I also hope you’re right with these trucks being worth a lot even with high mileage for years to come.

The HVAC in my06 was garbage. Ac didn’t work good at all. Vents wouldn’t switch from driver to floor to defrost. , that bothered me the most. Mine was a 5.9 6 speed 06 mega cab. Traded it in for 19k. They sold it for 29k. 180k miles

yeah thats one thing i forgot to mention is the 3rd gens and there notorious blend door boxes failing. i paid 1200 for mine to get fixed in 2017 but its been fine since then.

There is a company which specializes in making improved replacement blend doors. Eight or Nine hour project to breakdown the dash to get to them. Not hard to install once you get there. Just a royal pain getting to the blend box.

Yeah diesel don't really benefit from idling long. Usually five minutes before driving is sufficient.

It's kind of goofy - but I'm toying with the idea of trading my nearly brand new '22 Bolt EV in for one of these at a local dealer w/ 85K miles on it. '08 Megacab w/ the 6.7, heated seats, sunroof, loaded, etc - No accidents - Dealer wants $27K and I'm guessing it's gonna go up in value over-time w/ the trajectory of the market and desire for pre-emissions Diesels.

I actually agree. I have had 2 5.9s and am looking at a 6.7 because of the lack of options. 5.9 is a very powerful, reliable engine. After the 6.7 came out different emissions stuff started coming out. The 5.9 was the last of the non emissions crap engines.

Be wary of a Mega cab and fifth wheel. The rear top corners of the 08, 3500, Mega Cab I bought had been dented by the fifth wheel, when the previous owner turned too sharp on a mountain road. He sold the 3500, and the fifth wheel, to switch to a motor home and Jeep he can tow behind it.

You can do it yourself with minimal mechanical skills and some basic tools. There are many videos of the procedure on YT. I didn't know anything about these trucks before buying one in 2015 and learned everything from other people on the internet (You Tube, forums, etc). The biggest challenge now will be finding a place to sell you a delete tune. They exist, but they're not as easy to find like they used to be. But to give you an idea of what "deleting" involves, see below: ◘ Removal of EGR valve and associated piping on intake horn ◘ Removal of intake throttle valve ◘ Removal of EGR cooler on exhaust manifold ◘ Removal of SCR and DPF from exhaust ◘ Installation of block-off plate on intake horn ◘ Installation of intake adapter where the throttle value used to be ◘ Installation of block-off plates on exhaust manifold ◘ Installation of 4" pipe where SCR/DPF used to be ◘ Flash a tune that allows for deletes This takes a few hours, maybe 6-8 if you've never done it before and you take your time.

there are several good videos showing how to do a delete, also if you purchase the delete kit it usually comes with instructions on how to remove it. it's alll very straight forward and easy to understand. just do your research and you'll be fine man! also for tunes and deletes tbh ebay. try double r diesel for tuning. only way to get there tuning is by signing up through cummins forum and being a platinum member for like 100 bucks but it is worth it.

First thing I plan to do is an EGR delete and I was doing some research and found somewhere that the mini Max tune comes out of the box tuned for EGR delete! I’m not sure how accurate that is, as I said I’m new to diesels and I have very minimal knowledge on tuning or these trucks/motors in general! I’ve just been trying to learn as much as I can about them online before purchasing one!

You only need a quick learn (Snap On tool or equivalent) if you've installed a new/rebuilt trans. If that's the case, any transmission shop or general auto shop should be able to do it. I'd avoid the dealership, especially the one in Jville.

Nothing wrong with diesel as a daily driver. Just keep in mind that generally everything is more expensive on a diesel. Purchase price, fuel, and repairs. But in turn you get an engine that properly maintained will last a lot longer than a gas engine. Plus, they sound bad ass.

As far as fuel go, if these can get 20 plus miles to the gallon. The fill up cost should be less in the long run vs a v8. Or am I thinking about it wrong?

@@nardo8838 Nope you're correct. Generally you'll get better mpg than gassers. Thought the price per gallon is more expensive. So depending on your driving habits it could be cheaper than a V8 gas. Also you can check into a company called GasBuddy. You can sign up for the free program that will save you 5c/gal unlimited at stations that work with them. Sheetz does and you can still use the 3c/gal Sheetz card in combination for 8c/gal off. They also have promotions where you'll get more than 5c/gal for up to 20gal or whatever the case may be. There are also subscription programs where you pay a little bit but you save more. And the savings always trump the cost of the subscription if you use enough fuel. Look into it man.

And Ford Powerstrokes blow up except for the 7.3. Don’t buy one unless it’s a 7.3. The 6.0 and 6.4 engines were absolute junk and the worst out of the two is the 6.4. Earlier 6.7 engines had problems with the turbos. Even though the 6.7 Powerstroke is more reliable than the 6.0 and 6.4, Powerstrokes are still considered the least reliable of the big three diesels.
