Have a 40 gallon breeder I’m going to do with the same sort of set up. Only the lights will be around 20inches/50cm above the tank. Growing black mangrove and they will be tall. What wattage would you think I would need. Looking at two 60 watters now. They’re dim-able so I’m not worried about it being over kill but if I could save a few bucks and go with a lower wattage that would be hella better

depending on what your plants are. and how demanding on light they are the easiest way to calculate is lumen per liter of water, 10-20 for easy plants 20-40 medium, 40+ advanced. so in my 100L tank if i wanna grow demanding plants (light wise) i will have to do a total of 4000 lumens

Love the video Alen AxP....These seem real bright for 10 watts, as I have these in same wattage but had to upgrade to at least 30 watts to get your look, or my lights seem real dull...Lol. But good lights none the less,I paid a little extra for higher wattage, but cool...Thanx for showing. watching the from UK

Planing to start planted aquarium very soon but it's confusing because I see some people just buy those LED light for plants in aquarium shop and some use custom high intense flood light. What's the difference? The brighter is better or as what some claims you'll need white , blue and red mixed LED to grow healthier. And about canister filter. Do I need to buy with UV or normal is okay because some recommend the UV type to kill algae

Hi Alen, your tank here is looking great. What is the formula for these lights? For instance, how would I figure out how much light I need using these lights on a 55 gallon tank? Due to the price, this is an obviously, very attractive route to take. Thank you. Would you use three 60W putting out 6500k for a 48" long 55 gal ?

huh I really dont know, but from experience with these 10W LED, I recommend only about 30cm/11inch deep fish tank.

Tank is 125cm long 45cm deep. Two 50W's are definitely strong enough to grow anything in this tank! they both cost me $30 AUS from ebay and I have them mounted to the ceiling with chains. See image: imgur.com/a/TIo7t

1W/L. 10W LED is equivalent to 100W traditional lighting. 20W flood light alone is enough for 200L. 2x10W if you want to spread it out even. Or if you already ordered then just simply decrease time of exposure. Otherwise you will definitely have algae problems.

Why not the ones with blue and red LED sold at Hydroponics stores? They are much less then aquariums in cost. Its the color rendition that I wonder about? Not finding any KZbin posts saying how they look. 6500k Is really bland on fishes.

Plants will pearl on any white or pink lights ... Proveded ... Theres enough to trigger the photosynthetic process. If your tank is deeper than say 1.8 ft ... Then more light will be required for pearling. But for red pigments you'll need RGB lights because pure white lights make the red color washed out.
