So grateful for your comments about using acrylic yarns opposed to animal yarns
@spyderthread Жыл бұрын
There are so many plant based and synthetic alternatives now, there's really no need to use animal fibres. Plus, there's less chance of them getting eaten by moths! 😀

I also heard that wool was the only thing you could felt. It is fascinating to know that you can felt into and with kapok. Thank you for sharing this.

I'm glad you found it helpful 😊I've also felted into polyester stuffing and it worked well! I think the hair fibre felts into itself, so it doesn't matter too much what the head is stuffed with as long as it's stuffed firmly
@acornmoma2 жыл бұрын
@@spyderthread That is what I am learning how to do now. Stuff firmly. Each new doll gets me a little bit closer to understanding

Hi Jo, I’m quite new to doll making and love the idea of needle felting the hair, I’ve watched this video and I understand the rows going up the back of the head but I’m a bit lost as to how you continue with the top and the front of the head. If you could give me a bit more detail I would greatly appreciate it Thank you 😊 Tina

I know I've included the process in at least one of my videos, but I can't remember which 😆 I will definitely go over it again in another video soon!

Have you thought of bamboo yarn? I have used it to make a pretty BJD wigs too.
@spyderthread2 жыл бұрын
If I found a good 100% bamboo yarn, I would definitely use it. Sadly, every time I find bamboo yarn, it seems to be mixed with wool. I do use acrylic yarn sometimes though. I've also just got an order of bamboo fibre in four new colours, so more bamboo hair will be coming soon!

I love your videos so much! I’m currently attempting to make my own doll but I can’t find any videos on how to make the dresses/ skirts. So I’d love to see how you make yours❤

I kind of make it up as I go! I find it easiest to sew the dress onto the doll rather than make removable clothes. I will make a video showing how I do it at some point 😊

Thank you for the advice I’m totAlly new to doll making so looking for the best option for me. I’ve needle felted and rooted reborn so this would be something I’m familiar with.

The bamboo looks beautiful and super soft, I'm guessing that it's expensive, I'll check it out tho. I used Yarn Bee über Luxe on my last wig, it looks so good. I grabbed some and started poking and it felted nicely too. I haven't tried felting hair, I'll totally give it a try. I'm glad that I found your channel, I subscribed ♥

Thank you so much for subscribing :) Bamboo is a little more expensive than acrylic, but it does go a long way and there is very little waste!

Hi, thank you! You should definitely try needle felting. It's so much fun. You may even be able to needle felt a wig for your clay dolls?
@ghostlypreciousartandcraft2 жыл бұрын
@@spyderthread Not really... cause on Clay Dolls you have to glue the hair.That' s How i do. But i was thinking to Make a Doll or something out of wool using the needle felting tecnique!☺️ We ll see!👍😊
