Go watch paper cartridges video on this topic. The Austrian rifle was actually a much more modern, accurate, and longer ranged rifle than the Prussian one. The Austrians defeat was due to their tactics which favored the bayonet. If they were in a a firefight with the Prussians, the Austrians actually would’ve had the advantage.

If the Austrian muzzle-loading rifles outperformed the Prussian breech-loading rifles in terms of range and accuracy, did the Prussian rifles still offer at least some advantage in terms of rate of fire and tactical flexibility (being theoretically easier to operate while in prone position)?

if only there was a known technical difference between the two weapons that would make those bayonet-favouring tactics not advantageous...

@@mohammadumar1506the prussian rifle had advantages, but it was also much more difficult to make. As musle loading guns were relatively easy to operate, this means the austrians could get a bigger army with cheaper equipment.
