Oh I'm LOVING this .. I feel right at home tatting onto cloth .. I suddenly feel transformed into an older world. I feel like a dainty Victorian lady lol! Haha, such fun. Thanks for the demo/tut. I didn't even THINK to use my doll needles to tat straight into the fabric! I was thinking I'd have to sew it all on after tatting it up. Yay! Looks very pretty in this verigated thread. It's apricot-pale lime-yellow kinda. Sounds loud but ts actually quite subtle & looks quite vintage. Thankyou v much

Your tatting skills are just out of this world. Awesome. Can you please explain what are Doll needles? Thanks
@RustiKate7 жыл бұрын
Hi, Jennifer! Doll needles are used for making cloth dolls, sewing on arms and legs and such. They are 5" long and roughly the same size as a size 5 tatting needle. :)

Dear Kate , Thanks immensely for your help! I have a small fiber group called "EweKnitTea" and I am trying to teach us all how to tat, and I am using your videos, which they love too! Can you show tatting on edges that are not serged, but turned under? We would love to see more bracelets too. what thread do you use and where do you get it? It seems like it tangles less than crochet thread we are using. Blessings to you, Grace in Vermont

Grace, hi! Sorry I somehow missed your comment until now! Your group sounds awesome! :) I use DMC Baroque Crochet Cotton. I buy it in bulk and sell it on my etsy shop, but you can also find it on amazon.com ~ Katy :)

Oh no! Just as you started to teach us, you sped up the film so I missed what you were doing. Can you do one with the absolute basics for total beginners? Thank you :)

Did you try the speed control option on the youtube player (under stetting). I used to try and teach very slow, then more advanced tatters got frustrated. Then I discovered that youtube has a video speed option for the viewer, so now I just tat my normal speed and viewers can speed it up or slow it down as they need. Hope this helps! :)

kate what is the diffrerance between needle and shuttletatting patterns?
@RustiKate10 жыл бұрын
Bonnie, most patterns you will find are shuttle tatting patterns, and they will reference how many shuttles you need and such. Needle tatting patterns leave out these references and only tell you the stitches for the actual item. If you are a needle tatter and want to use a shuttle pattern, all you have to do for most, is simply disregard the shuttle references and do the stitches that they give directions for. Hope this helps! :)
