"Picot" is a French word, and it's pronounced "pee-ko." Love your simple to follow instructions.

I thought 'pick it' was a stitch I hadn't learned yet. Imagine my surprise when I discovered it was just a picot. I'm glad I don't have another stitch to learn, what ever way people pronounce it. This was the best of the three beginner tatting videos I've watched.

My maternal grandmother passed away when I was a teen. She used to tat and make doilies. Now that I’ve become a 1st time grandma, I’ve relearned how to knit and just became a crocheter earlier this year. When I told my spouse that my grandma tatted & showed him one of the 2 pieces I have, he said “you should try that.” Because he knows how scared I was of crocheting & now I love it. Your video helps me not be frightened of trying tatting. And you know the sweet part? When you showed the teeny crochet hook, I think my mom passed along that same hook to me with her 3 crochet hooks. It’s the exact same size & must be it. 🥰

This is precious. I know it's two years later, but congratulations ❤ I'm much too young to be a grandparent (Millennial here) but I feel such joy with my neices and hope to teach them knitting, crocheting, Maltese lace (my mother's side heritage, very similar to Spanish lace) and eventually tatting myself I hope you're enjoying being a grandparent 😊

@@BloodFox49 TY so much for your kind words! It’s ok that it’s 2 years later, it let me reflect on what’s happened in that time. I think it’s so wonderful that you enjoy knitting & crocheting & lace-making and plan to pass those skills along to your nieces. I’m so impressed & grateful for all the young creators on SM who are making such beautiful items & also developing patterns to share w/other makers. Best wishes for a happy 4th of July!

EXCELLENT tutorial! Thank you so much for making it and sharing it with us all. (Just FYI, picot is pronounced "pee-koh" rather than "picket" like a picket fence. It's a French word, and they are famous for adding silent letters to the end of words.) 😉
