Needles for Embroidery Machines 📍 What I Use | SEWING REPORT

What types of needles do I use on the embroidery machine? Answering that viewer question in this video. For the most part, I stick to just three. Remember that generally the higher the number for needle size, the larger the needle eye. (ie: 100/16 is bigger and 75/11 is smaller) With thread, the higher the number, the thinner it is. (ie: 60 wt thread thinner and 12 wt thread is thicker)

I had no idea that the bigger the number the thinner the thread size. I always thought it was opposite. I found this video because I wanted to see what type of needle was best for embroidery. I had been using embroidery gold needles size 14 but once I ran out, I started using what I had on hand which is a bunch of size 12 microtex needles. The embroidery actually stitched out a lot better with the microtex needles.

Hi Jennifer... This is Matthew from Lakeland FL... I'm a newbie (Very) I bought the PE800 (Today) to embroider Vinyl and simulated leather for my airplane interior... No crazy designs just something that identifies my plane ex. Cessna 340 RAM IV. You mentioned the ballpoint needle... have had time to experiment more on vinyl? I have some scrap pieces to play on... Just don't to break a bunch of needles... any help?? I have found your channel very informative...

No, do NOT use a twin needle with the PE800

If you are looking to do an embroidery business running the machine all day, every day then no, I would not recommend the PE800 for that. You would need a commercial multi-needle machine to really do the job. They cost $$$$. You CAN do occasional odd projects on the PE800 with the right type of needle/stabilizer combo.

Can you be more specific as to why they're not working for you? I've used a variety of needle brands / sizes and haven't had too many issues. You do need to be sure the flat side is facing the back of the machine and push the needle up into the slot as far as it can go. If anyone else has any insight, feel free to weigh in for Joyce as well.

I have done all that. They go in fine but when I hit the needle threader it will not thread.

I'm able to use the needle threader with these needles. You do need to make sure the needle is in the highest position possible and sometimes it takes a couple tries, when you put the thread through the guides. If all else fails, obviously you'll have to thread manually but I haven't had to do that with my PE800.

@@triciap3803 embroidery needles usually have a bigger hole for the thread which causes less friction when you are embroidering. Too much friction may cause thread to break.
