I would respond to your comment by quoting scripture reminding you that there is no forgiveness of sin without the shedding of blood. So according to the bible without faith in Jesus and his work on the cross, you do not have forgiveness. If you wanted to fallow God's old covenant approach of the old testament, you would still have to be making animal sacrifices for your sins and I'm assuming your not doing that. But even if you were, God has made it clear that animal sacrifices never forgive sin but only cover them temporally. Jesus said I am the Way the Truth and the Life and no one comes to the Father but by me! You asked why would you go anywhere but the source and the answer is because God said to and that Jesus is the source. He is the image of the invisible God. Jesus said if you have seen me you have see the Father. The Father and I are one. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Seen at the baptism of Jesus and in the great commission in Matthew 28 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
