Dave,I think the best selling point of the NEEL is the “basement” utility rooms.

It is a strong point. I was also impressed with the vessel’s blue water behaviour that Igor discussed in his 5 part NEEL 51 trans-Atlantic delivery series. Happy New Year John!

Dave - another great video as I'm sure your viewers are getting accustomed to! Your naval gazing comment on the diesel water separator was excellent, I will be doing more research on that vs a dual raycor system. Your other comment on the pop up fly lounge was also spot on. the new Excess 14 has a similar pop up lounge and they capture all the cushions inside the "lounge pit" (for ease of storage when underway). When i saw this concept on the 14 i immediately thought of having at least flexible panels on the underside when the system is closed up and underway. Thanks for touching on the build quality... This is something my wife and I are very interested in, since there seems to be conflicting opinions from youtube reviewers. Keep up the great work!!

GREAT reference to sailing Cadoha! the video link here (Q&A session on the marine 16 system) mentions using this system in combination with a raycor! (at the 28:30 mark) kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3zYlKOBmb6Yg7s

I wonder why the 51 doesn't have the same transparent forward lookout in the main berth, probably out of concern for the strength of that piece of bulkhead?

I had exactly the same question. I think they simply didn’t think of it till the 47 and never updated the 51. Having said that, in the new 52. I would just put in a smart glass wall on the angled section of the owners suite. From the bed you could see the port mounted nave table and have a great view port forward.

Actually, I recently found out it's an option in the 51. Perhaps Neel saw this window as well received by 47 owners and later made it available to 51 commissions. It's not a standard feature on the 51 as it is in the 47. I mentioned that fact about the Neel 51 on the Carry On Sailing channel. James knew about the possibility of having a front facing window in the master cabin but preferred without to have less light intrusion into the cabin. I think the light can be taken care of with drapes or a blind but everyone has differing needs.

@@navalgazingatcampdavid Yes, it appears the Neel 52 will have a different layout on the main deck than the 51. I noticed the nav station will be on the port side, probably to make it easily viewed from the lounge area. Can't think of any other reason why Neel would swap the galley and navigation locations. I generally like Neel yachts and looking forward to the 52 unveiling.

@@jamesaron1967 Thanks for this info James!! I didn’t know it was an option.

@@jamesaron1967 Hi James. I also really like them. I just completed a comparison of the NEEL 52, Outremer 52, Catana 50 and Balance 482. The results are surprising. I will do a video on it in the coming weeks.
