This is a good book. Does provide a step by step introduction to how to build things kzbin.infoUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 , also does offer some steps. Includes pictures to give you ideas for layouts and such. If you are looking for a guide, this is not exactly what you want. But if you are trying to familiarize yourself with the way that pole barn building and other out buildings, are made, then this will work just as you need it to. A few things in this book are a barn (of course), detached garage, storage building, and coops.

Every few months I look up this video and instead I find all sort of bushcraft or log cabin building, nothing like this video. When I can't find it I get a sense that it was taken down and it makes me so sad. I hope it stays up forever. It really gives me hope. Maybe not knowing if I will find it again makes watching it so much sweeter. Thank you for giving peace to so many people (I can see other comments feeling the same).

I was really starting to believe there are no Craftsman left today thanks to KZbin I'm starting to see there's a lot of great young craftsmen today I feel much better when I see them ,,thank you very much that was an excellent job carry on and God bless you and your family

I was thinking the same, 64 here, I have always wondered how much skills are lost with Time? @Liar Department A lot of us want to do things like this. The problem is usually money, even if you can source everything you need to build it you still need land. I wish I could just go into the woods and try to build something, even if it's not any good I'd still learn from it and make it better next time. But all the land is owned and I'd have to buy it first. And I can't just buy any land either, because you need permits and stuff in order to build something there and you need people that inspect it for safety and other regulations, and that costs money too. It's really driving me crazy that even if you want next to nothing to do with society you still have to be involved in it. Only thing I can do is keep working for a society and a system I don't like or agree with in order to save up enough money to maybe one day be able to buy some land where I can live and do what I want. When all you want to do is cut down some trees, built a cabin, grow some vegetables and keep a couple of animals, and society says "no, you have to work for us in order to have a chance to do that" it makes me feel like a prisoner in my own country. I've even been toying with the idea of just taking some land by force, but that's not very realistic either. In today's world we're all borne into slavery, we're expected to specialize very narrowly and serve society as a cog in the machine.

I don't come back to many videos, but I've watched this maybe 10 times since it was released. It's not just the obscene amount of work, or the beautiful craftsmanship. It's the deep sense of peace you get while watching it; knowing the intention and thought behind every piece of the house. I love watching the different craftsmen coming in and out, the connection with tradition and previous generations, and most of all, the connection to family. Thank you for posting, Jacob.

I love you people that had the fortitude to start and complete something so complex and ultimately so beautiful. What a legacy for your efforts. What an example to young people of today to get back to traditional methods, that on the surface may seem "old school", but really employ ancient, energy efficient "tech", combining all the things many of us aspire to, insofar as the slow movement, environmental sustainability, and a rebuilding of our souls. Thank you, thank you, from an old carpenter who wishes he had done this himself. Maybe there is still time.

Kris Hammer what would make it expensive. I live in sweden which has among the most thorough building codes there is in the world, and Lithuania isn't far behind either. Neither her not there building codes is a real problem. Usually they are there for a reason and you can accommodate them in your project. It takes a bit of planning for sure. Bit that's about it.
@krishowell91307 жыл бұрын
I can't speak for everywhere but here in Nova Scotia, Canada you have to have someone come out and make sure that your wood is "dry" between 17% and 19% enough and all of your plans have to have an engineers stamp of approval on the plans for the house and both of those from my understanding can cost around $70,000 to $100,000
