Personally we had a birthday party with family for our baby's first birthday Timing was such that baby takes their nap and eats snacks before going to party So then baby is fresh, well fed and happy U dont need a long celebration 1 to 2 hours is enough

We celebrated my son's first birthday with family and relatives and it was lots of fun for everyone but my son was too small to understand what was going on. Just as Angad suggested I regretted having celebrated his birthday with so much pomp and show. But, I lost my parents couple years ago and now I am so glad I had them and the entire family making memories on my sons special day and to shower him with blessings. My son is 8 and the birthday celebrations change with age, he now wants to have friends over to celebrate.

Hi Shona, Angad is correct celebrate it at home with grandparents. I did same for both my girls and have good memories of it as well. Baby is also happy around their safe place. Priority should be babies routine. You can do grand when he becomes 3 or 5

See Wherever you celebrate I feel it should a event that is remembered. Hello Shona, i totally agree with Angad. When my kid turned 1 we celebrated with a big birthday party etc.. But what Angad is predicting actually happened.. Had to time everything according to the baby.. Finally became too tiring and stressful. It was a milestone for us but if I was given a second chance i would go away on a vacation and make those memories instead. Just my thought.. Rest it's going to be a memorable experience for you any ways... So enjoy

Vacation off can be taken any time. But celebration with family will be memorable. As far as this is concerned that he might be cranky, that might happen on vacation as well. As children are too unpredictable. And since Neev has already travelled and adjusted so well, I don't think he will not be comfortable with too many people. Then too v planned a small get together wer our close family members were present.. So ek acchi memory hai for us and also for our daughter.. Now she is going to b 4.all other birthday we celebrated at home.. Again we will be celebrating our fifth birthday in a grand way wre v wll b inviting our family and friends for the celebration.. I agree with you shona. A birthday party is more than a party, neev will get a lot of blessings. Because you haven't had any special function for neev. In our hone, we celebrate every milestone with family. Maybe neev won't understand now, but will cherish those later. Both my kids enjoy watching their 1st birthdays. Recently we celebrated our daughter puberty function also, we have that custom in our culture, more than the function and rituals what matters is the togatherness we feel. Moreover you have such a colorful and loving family. It would be really great. It's my opinion. Finally it's your and angads decision. I am satisfied wd Angad point of view...as my daughter is also of 4 sep...we too are planning for our family vacation of three...cz organising such a big function at 1 year vl be very difficult for a baby to understand n eventually he vl become more cranky...shona your idea u can be implement at the neevu second birthday..we are also planning the same for our daughter
