Vosteeds Vanchor lock is SO good now that they fixed the button breaking off on the Ankylo. I've got all of the Vanchor lock knives (the Shillen cutter is in my pocket and the Corgi V is in my watch-pocket right now, crazy timing on this video LOL) and I love them. I just wish they'd re-design the Ankylo and give it the new button geometry and maybe do a Micarta version with 14C28N.... I'm also REALLY hoping the do a Raccoon version with the V-lock. Vosteed is hands down my favorite "budget" brand this year. IMO they've made the coolest knives. Now if they'd just stop making everything SMALL. I'm tired of sub-3" knives. 3 - 3.5" is my sweet spot.

Very cool selection of Blades, crazy the quality you can get these days for under a hundred bucks. The Kubey fixed blade caught my attention as the handle looks very ergonomic and a great steel as well for a small fixed blade given it's crazy tough. Thanks for the great vid and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable.

Whats your thoughts on DC53 blade steel, any experience with it? Thanks
@whitefaze134 күн бұрын
Chinese DC53 Steel is more or less a novelty “super” D2 steel, and while I’m sure is decent to use, you have better options to pick from, depending on your goal of a knife and what purpose it serves to you. I say novelty, because with how many other better steels out there, it comes down to form vs. function. That being said, DC53 is a functional steel and don’t let me discourage you from giving it a try, I just want to be honest is all.

*references for all upon request. While I still love budgets, my tastes have... sadly grown? The whole "you won't until you will" in any hobby, has grabbed me a bit and the last year plus has borked my budget a bit. Not to where my mortgage or bills aren't paid with an "in case shit" buffer, but... Yeah. My pocket knife game is skewed as fuuuuuuuuuu with some of my purchases. It's really shown in my gifting of knives and has, probably, given non knife people an unrealistic view on pocket knives- I make very little apologies about that(unless I give them that bladey bug, which wasn't my intention. Just wanted them to have a superior cutting tool, yet, I gifted several assisted jobbers to people who like assisted. Not saying all assisted are bad, just not most of them are good lol).

I couldn't trust a button lock knife for selfdefense. Also what is a REVERSE bolster lock??
@NeevesKnives4 күн бұрын
I would just as much as any locking knife for the most part, I wouldn't trust one that can't take any abuse but I've tested some button locks with heavy abuse and over a long period that did amazing it's all about the lock geometry
@pikemaster203 күн бұрын
@NeevesKnives Is the "reverse bolster lock" because the "bolster" is longer then typical? For the most part I only use fixed blades as a backup for my primary self defense. As for folding knives it would have to be an Atlas, tri ad, maybe a shark lock( I have no experience yet).

Neeves AR SFll is a new steel Cjrb made, it’s not the same as ar-rpm9.
@NeevesKnives4 күн бұрын
I will reach out to see but, I'm pretty sure it's just a name change as after Larrin Thomas made that break down of There steel and why the other letters shouldn't be there they said they were going to change it, he proved that it was SF Spray Form not PM Powder metal. AR is for Artisan
@jarofaar86184 күн бұрын
@ From Cjrb site on the steel: AR-SFII utilizes the same process as AR-RPM9, a proprietary spray form method that produces an exceptionally fine grain structure that gives the steel additional toughness when compared to other steels with similar formulas and improved sharpenability. These factors have been key to the success of AR-RPM9 over the last 4 years. Over the development of AR-SFII, our goal has been to maintain the exceptional toughness of AR-RPM9 while pumping up the edge retention properties of the new steel. The formula listed below is the result, and we are confident that it will perform admirably against any other steel in a similar price range!
@rays51634 күн бұрын
did they just change the same of ar-rpm9 to ar-sf? because the website claims it's kind of a tweaked formula.

Only looks like a C when looking at the knife on websites/online in presentation view. When you have it in hand looking at it vertically it will appear more like a horse-shoe lol. But yeah bro, gotta get past that mental block for it; if it's stopping you from actually buying a Civivi model that you know you would enjoy then you're honestly thinking about it way to hard. Every major budget OEM/company has at least a couple small corks and oddities that I find strange, but something as minor as the pivot logo (which is at least nice and symmetrical) that is keeping you from enjoying a certain model from Civivi is kind of crazy.
