That moment when you speak with conviction only to be deflated by someone that knows way more facts. Lol. Dude's whole demeanor changed at all the replies. This film was definitely one of the best horror films of the last few years. No extra effects, no nonsense, just straight up one side trying to shatter the others position from across a table. A chess match between human and non-human, which was intriguing to watch but terrifying in it's own way given the demon had far more access to knowledge and history than the human and was able to debunk almost everything he threw. This is a good recommendation for horror fans.
@Mikesorrento3344 Жыл бұрын
Yes, I disagree though that this is a horror movie. Yes, the makers classified it as a horror movie as they knew a religious classification would have attracted far less people. This movie, is a commentary on the battle between good and evil and should be required viewing in every school, college.
@PDro11 Жыл бұрын
@johnrand7720 Eh. Can easily be classed between horror and thriller. The movie is clearly supernatural in nature, but I agree in some sense that it's not the standard for what defines a horror movie. But it was truly more terrifying than most movies about demonic possession mainly because of how easily Nefarious broke down the psychologist and weakened him. A priest and former exorcist did an interview about this movie and made a very poignant statement about this movie in that the intellect of the demon was far more horrifying than the displays of power audiences are used to seeing in films like The Exorcist or the like. But yes, a discourse on good vs. evil indeed with psychologist really being in neutral territory here.

The fact that you can invoke god in the context of this movie is hilarious. The god of this movie is a pathetic creature who creates beings of free will for the sole purpose of receiving their praise, and once they inevitably rebel(which anyone with an above room temperature IQ could have predicted), he replaces them with a weaker version, rather than do some introspection and realising that what he did was wrong. It's basically Trump as creator of the universe.

@@korganrocks3995 You're literally deriving this from a lie told by a... Demon. You know, the same monstrous being that freely admits to tormenting innocent people to hurt God and those people, the "heroic rebellion" of which is not-so-heroic (notice how the demon calls Satan "master" all the time). Also, humans are BETTER than angels. We have the capacity to repent; these monstrous beings literally cannot.
@korganrocks3995Ай бұрын
@@avenger4027 It doesn't matter whether that demon is lying. His very existence proves the god of that movie's universe as being either too weak to defeat evil, or evil enough to allow it to exist. Either way, he's a pretty pathetic god. The only god worthy of respect is one who abstains from interfering in the universe at all or one who interferes to prevent suffering. The bad news for you is that we clearly don't have the latter, but the good news is that we might have the former. Of course, it's infinitely more likely that we have none at all, but at least it's theoretically possible that we have a god who created space, time and matter, then stepped back and allowed matters to proceed naturally.
@avenger4027Ай бұрын
@@korganrocks3995 Ah, the "problem" of evil. Only a problem if you aren't equipped with proper philosophy. Why would you need to bother God if all the evils you face... Can be defeated on your own? God is not a helicopter parent, if He interfered all the time, no heroes or good people would ever emerge. "He's pretty pathetic" - why don't you say that to His face? "To allow it to exist" - even a demon explained this in the movie. Love - like good - is a choice! You can't have the choice to do good without the possibility of choosing evil. God is busy with a celestial war. Those demons? The entirety of humanity that has ever existed and could exist would not add up to a mere 1% of the sheer amount of demons in existence. Personally, I am of the Zoroastrian opinion - to not bother the powers of good with trifling matters that they've already gave me all the tools (good religion, inspiring heroes) to deal with.

I haven't strayed so far that I don't recognize it I need to work on it yes but I can recognize it as a sin as a wrong. its just a matter of stopping myself from doing it that's the struggle that's the fight.

Surprisingly, the part about hate speech is historically accurate. The invention of "race" is a new idea. People always used to notice skin color, and know it was correlated with region, but the idea of people being part of a distinct racial group didn't exist. People had the most heated conflicts with their neighbors - that is, people who looked just like them. You might be persecuted for your religion, for your citizenship, for your accent, but not race. Someone with darker skin who worked for the church was considered far above lowly light skinned peasants, because it was considered their occupation was far more important than where they were from or the shade of their skin.
