Rolling Thunder looks more interesting with the art design and story, but I'd rather play Code Name Viper for the gameplay. I love how the game shows you how the girl is being held captive. Damn, she's lovely! I want to check out Rolling Thunder 2. Don't know how I feel about limited ammo. I need all the shots I can get! WTF happens if you run out of bullets at the end bosses? Another excellent video, dude. That's so cool I snuck into the intro there :) Thanks for letting me be a part of this episode.
@NefariousWes7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, dude, and thanks for helping me out! I think that intro turned out pretty well. I hear ya about the art design in regards to Rolling Thunder. It looks so unique, and I love the color combinations on the hooded soldiers. Almost like some cheesy, spy flick from the '60s. Rolling Thunder 2 and 3 are pretty good and play more like Viper. And if you run out of bullets on the bosses, then you're dead. When you run out of ammo, you can fire a single, slow-as-shit shot, so you're not completely defenseless. But you won't last very long.

Speaking about passwords, when you play the game Code Name: Viper (I played the Japanese version named Ningen Heiki) on normal difficulty, the passwords appear before 3rd and 6th stage instead of before 4th and 7th stage. Also, if you finish the game on hard difficulty, a password appears at the end after the scores. But I do not know what it does. Anyway, nice video! You brought back my memories too!

"If there was other stuff I missed that was important, let me know" Yes, , of course. HOW COULD YOU NOT TALK ABOUT THE SOUNDTRACKS YOU MANIAC?!? I joke of course, you did one hell of a great video talking about the main core of the two games being similar and there gameplay. I find it interesting recently the information that Arc System Works did indeed program Code Name: Viper, but it also makes sense in just how similar it is to Rolling Thunder. But the mention of the N1603/163 expansion soundchip in the Famicom version of Rolling Thunder and Yoko Shimomura's wonderful compositions in Code Name: Viper would have made this complete (to me cus I feel responsible when music (facts and)/composers are mentioned :P)
@NefariousWes7 жыл бұрын
Thanks, man. The soundtracks just don't relate to each other at all. Rolling Thunder only has two stage tracks. I was mainly focusing on the similarities since they are two completely different games and not the same game with differences, which is what I normally do.

ecmyersvids Thanks, man! Another good thing about the Famicom version of Thunder is that it utilizes an extra sound channel, giving the music more of a "pop". Where all the guys from Human (minus Chuck, of course) played the album in its entirety, plus songs from Scream Bloody Gore, Leprosy and Spiritual Healing. I think it's good to mention the thing that will kick AAA publishers today in the balls, and rightfully so. These games show that you can make cost effective games, yet still inventive and fun, and that you can do it for less than the usual retail. The spouted lies that game development is barely turning a profit at the 60 dollar price tag to the point they need to take parts of games out to sell them back to you to turn a profit is hogwash and should be reminded at every opportunity. I don't mind justifiably later made DLC, like expansions we use to buy regularly for PC, but content that's same day release and just held back, and for another price tag? Especially holding back game release till DLC is finished? Companies like Capcom and EA these days need their open slaps in the face to call them out on it. At least that's this arcade manager's humble opinion. Later DLC isn't bad. It just needs to be done responsibly, and honestly. I think Titanfall 2 is a good example of how it was done right. But now we'll see what happens that EA has now bought up Respawn.
