Negan References What Aaron Said Two Years Ago

'Two Years' refers to the time since 10x03 and not chronology in the show. If you don't watch The Walking Dead religiously, you may miss Negan's reference to what Aaron told him in 'Ghosts'. Seasons Ten and Eleven are my favourites, so I have watched them quite a lot. I strung both scenes together to make the callback more obvious. Negan took this advice and proceeded to have the best solo adventure in The Walking Dead!

I think at first Maggie hated how Negan was moving on, cause she believed he wanted to forget the sins he committed. But he hasn’t, everything he’s done in his past is ALWAYS on his mind

I like the fact that the characters trust Negan and were willing to have him be a part of their community, but they still dislike him to the point where he felt he had to leave. I see people complain that the characters should give Negan a break, but Negan did kill their loved ones. Not only did he smash Glenn and Abraham's heads in right in front of them, but the war with him cost multiple lives, including Eric, the love of Aaron's life. I like this line because it shows that he didn't just leave because he didn't want to get killed by Maggie, but because he realized his presence alone was enough to cause conflict and turmoil with the group, so he took the higher road and just left.

He smashed their heads in after Rick and Co killed like 20-25 of his people on their sleep at the satellite station, with basically only Gregory the liars word to go on. They’re lucky Negan didnt just kill all of them

Alexandria's operatives were hired by The Hilltop as a direct answer to the executions, extortion, theft and forced labor perpetrated by The Sanctuary. And while other communities did not have a hand in the sequence of events, The Hilltop was not the only community being subjugated by the Saviors. The Kingdom and Oncean Side were too; with at least 20 to 23 confirmed executions (photos from Lucille's victims, Cyndie's brother, and Tim and Marsha from The Hilltop included), and 30 unconfirmed more at hand (counting Oceanside's all male population above 10). Besides, Rick's moves were also a preemptive strike made in an effort to counter targeting by The Saviors, following (unmotivated) attacks on Alexandria's people. Don't take me wrong: Alexandria's strike was pretty fucked up. But it was an answer to attacks and, just as with the Saviors, a vestige of a global violent landscape. Over three entire communities!? Nah, they started the conflict, not the other way around. As Maggie once said: "You can't debate battle plans with me… levels of cruelty."

I think I’m gonna rewatch from season 9 because I think ever since Rick left I’ve been soo confused with the show. Not that it’s been super confusing but just with all the characters coming and going it got hard to track who’s even still with us. It’s even worse when they flip each episode back and forth so one never proceeds the other, so if you watched them week by week sometimes it would just start a completely different story the next week. I believe this is a little reason that nobody really talks about in terms of The Walking Dead’s ratings. But alas, I must rewatch season 9 to now there’s been soo much stuff

There’s a part of me that wished we could’ve gotten to the Commonwealth in the start of season 10 instead of having the whisperer war last longer. 2 I felt they had some issues with the story that I didn’t love, I thought Beta coulda been a little more badass and gruesome and not simp for alpha like he did😂. Tbh nothing major I just get discombobulated thinking about what happened through season 9-now. From what I remember I kinda disliked the extra episodes we got for season 10 I believe, I might’ve not even watched all of them completely yet they just made me bored out of my mind.

Alright everyone. The only reason why I didn't see him as a main character in season 6-7 was because he didn't seem that important (I know he recruited everyone to Alexandria). But that could just be how I felt about him. At the time of the lineup, he would have been one of the characters no one would have cared about if he died. The lineup had way more important characters than him. (Rick, Carl, Michonne, Maggie, Rosita, Eugene, Glenn, Abraham, and Sasha).

"But Rick's group started it!" I don't think people understand no matter who started it, all-out war was incredibly ugly and hard for everyone and that doesn't bode warm happy feelings. There are always going to be raw feelings, even with Negan being trustworthy because no matter what he was still a huge part of the war and was the cause of so many deaths *even before the war started*. Remember, the Kingdom and Hilltop had been dealing with the Saviors long before Alexandria was in the picture. Jesus had even mentioned Hilltop having their own lineup before Rick's group did. Negan can be as helpful and trustworthy as he can, but he can't change Aaron remembering being in the circle, or witnessing Eric dying for a war he didn't even think they should have fought for but had done it for him anyway. Those memories are still going to hurt, are Negan can't do anything to help other than distance himself. Some wounds just can't heal.

I liked Negan's redemption, but has to be said that just for the two murders on Abraham and Glen, in the US he would have either been put in jail for life or get death sentence in some States. Now in that world everything goes faster and 7 years can be considered even "lifetime", but also rick's group killed for less. So he should already see being alive as a blessing. He shouldn't even considered being forgiven. But he did good stuff and rn even maggie trusts him

Plus his presence around the group alone was causing conflict. By leaving he not only gained Maggie's trust (as well as helping her son) but he relieved all of the tension with the rest of the group.
