We all have "negative feedback loops."
Example, you lose the extra 20 pounds you've been carrying around the last 10 years. Or you gain 5 pounds of muscle.
You brain finds these new environments unfamiliar. Basically, by its estimation, you're not safe. So it triggers a negative feedback loop to gain the weight you lost or lose the muscle you gained.
Gay Hendricks calls the the "Upper Limit Problem."
In you personal life you have the same negative feedback loops.
e.g., 1.) You earn a promotion at work, then for no reason, you go on a spending binge and burn through your savings.
2.) You're killing it in your fitness program and everything is going great. Then you go on a two week drinking and eating tirade.
To break free from negative feedback loops and "Upper Limit Problems." You need to raise your "set-point." I.e., you need to raise your upper limit.
This is exactly what we take the men of our High Performance Coaching program through so they can become better men for their family.
