I find most negs come from newbies.If they actually do read the title and the description....many times buyers just don't comprehend. They look at the pictures and see what they want to see.

I have 3 as well. The last their address said error I messaged asking for a correct mailing address. They left negative feedback that I canceled went back on sale etc etc. I sent them a screen shot where I asked they didn't believe me and refused to amend. I always at least respond to the negative professionally with what happened from my side. I think that negative feedbacks when new do kinda n bump you down in search results for a few days!

I have 1 negative. I found that unless you have a store they will not help you. I had photo proof and still couldn't get it removed? I am still a small seller that couldn't afford that negative. It also is ridiculous that we cannot leave negatives for buyers. That is one thing they need to change back to the old way.

Another option after the automated removal gets rejected (since it pretty much always does) is contacting support chat via the help section. If one rep won't remove it, just keep contacting them back and explaining your story until one will. I've only had to go through this process once, but this is what worked for me.

I just got my first negative feedback, the whole thing stinks! Came here looking for good information. The kicker in my situation, the buyer had (0) feedback, now they have (1) good feedback, guess who it's from? Me! and it was for "good communication". What?! ... they never reached out about their dissatisfaction. Also, WHEN is the best time to leave good feedback for your buyer? Anyway, I'm going to follow these steps, keep my cool, and see what the outcome is. Thanks for posting this video, and keeping us informed. Love the channels! ...and the podcast. Ssshhh!

Great video! Love hearing discussion of every eBay seller's least favorite topic haha. Also, you can still contact an eBay representative, even during covid. The automated answering system tries its damndest to avoid connecting you to a live person but if you keep repeating customer service, customer service.. it will forward you. I'm sure you could have that shirt feedback removed. Like you said though, negative feedback normally won't affect sales all that much. I deal mostly in vintage electronics and film cameras, (very picky buyers) I just do my absolute best to disclose any and all defects. Although getting people to actually read the listing is another story.. lol

Someone had a bad day and they blame it on me --- it's a drop in the huge bucket of my sales. Like you I see no drop in sales - in fact October is my 2nd best selling month of 2020. So for me I can wait the year for these to drop off. Thanks for a great video!

I've made mistakes. I offer 100% money-back guarantee for 60 days. I also include as much detail as possible to thwart any misunderstandings. However, mistakes are made. I include a hand written note (going to post card soon) that thanks them and asks them to contact me first if they are not satisfied. Only two people have ever left me negatives. Most who had problems ended up leaving me positive feedback! I figure the reason to continue to get positive feedback is to mitigate any negatives that might come up. The note asking for feedback gets a pretty good response rate.

Received a negative from a buyer who did not read the item description. I offered to accept return but no reply. I was stressing over how to resolve the matter - if I should appeal, contact buyer again, what? Then in the next 24 hours I received 5 positive feedback all in a row! I took it as a sign to move on and let it be. I left a reply to the feedback and put my time and energy into my business. My takeaway thought from the experience was to "prevent" the situation by possibly avoiding such items in the future.

I offer free returns. I sell mostly vintage items and books, no clothing and very few electronics. But with free returns I can get all neutral and negative feedback removed. I have had 4 or 5 removed in the last couple of months from low feedback buyers. One said "Shirt didn't fit" but it was a book that I had sold her. One lady left me a negative when I hadn't even mailed the item yet. I never go to eBay for help anymore, just straight to eBay for Business and they've always taken care of me and been very helpful. Generally a couple of negatives won’t make much difference but I have in the past had customers say “I only usually buy from sellers with 100% feedback, can you confirm the item is as it says it is.” OR “Can you do me a better price because you don’t have 100% feedback.” This was years back but I had a few people say this to me and it has stuck with me. Personally a few negatives doesn’t stop me buying from a seller but some people may think differently.

Hey, Kevin. Just watched this video as I had a question about a neutral feedback I received a couple of days ago. I haven’t been selling long but this was my first non-positive that I have received and it bothered me a bit. First of all, should I even worry about a neutral feedback? Since it didn’t effect my 100% rating, I was initially going to just “try” and forget about it. The thing that made me mad was his feedback, “poor job it was damaged box I have to fix it going to hurt value”. He purchased a Barbie doll for $14 and I had pictures of the box that showed its condition and described it as only fair to good in the description. I finally sent an email to the buyer and apologized that he wasn’t satisfied with his purchase and that I take great pride in how I ship my items. He replied that it wasn’t an issue with me but the post office! I simply responded the feedback only reflects on me, not USPS, and again apologized for the issue. Should I just leave it alone and move forward or should I contact eBay on a neutral feedback? Sorry this was long! Enjoy your channel!

First off, Thank You for this channel I have run across it for the first time and liked and subbed to better educate myself,. Ok now, what can one do when a buyer has purchased , in my case a graphics card from me and has had it for almost 2 months then after who knows what he /she has done to it (overclocking, mining, overheated PC case? Among other possible problems) leaves a Neutral feedback that says that NOW after all this time has elapsed, they are having an issue with it? This sows seeds of doubt into other prospective buyers minds about a seller. I reached out to the buyer with a solution since I too have the same card and run into similar problems, that wan NOT the graphics card fault (Run DDU and do a clean driver install) but I never heard back from them and so I requested a feedback revision that they are against doing. They offered no pictures of any damage or proof of their accusation either. This could be an issue from a bad HDMI cable connection, or bad or conflicting drivers or like happened to me, with a similar card, after a Windows OS update. Will Ebay consider these facts and remove the buyers neg/Neutral feedback?

To increase the feedback rate, I typically wait to see that their item was delivered then I leave the feedback. This usually leads to reciprocal feedback. I used to include a packing slip asking for feedback but my feedback rate was very very low. I no longer include a packing slip in most cases and yet I'm receiving feedback at 10x the rate.

I presume that Ebay for Business cannot be used by casual sellers such as me. I once had a lady say she got the wrong earrings. At that point, I was picking, packing, and getting completely ready to ship, one order at a time. She said she ordered blue earrings (true) and I sent pearl ones. I remembered packing the blue ones, and I HAD NO PEARLS in stock to begin with!! She said she liked the pearls better anyway and left positive feedback. I've never figured that one out, not that I lost sleep over it.

For prevention, I've seen a lot of folks who get negative feedback for selling something that (obviously) doesn't work because they are selling it as "For parts or repair," such as a dead cell phone, vintage electronics etc. Even though it's plastered all over the listing that the item is "for parts," if it's in the wrong category, then eBay will not remove the feedback. Double-check to see if that electronics category as one more level in for "Parts and not working" that you can put the item in. That helps prevent negative feedback. Something as easy as "professional looking" packing for shipping helps too. I know that I occasionally have to put together a Frankenbox for odd sized or very large items, but the rest of the time I'm using a nice looking box, well packed dunnage inside (I sell a lot of breakables), etc. I've known folks who even re-use poly bag mailing bags, and if one shows up at my door, as a customer, I get a bad feeling about that seller from the get-go. Nice, good looking packaging shows the customer that you care that their item got to them safely, and makes you look like a more pro seller. And that's not very expensive in the great scheme of things, especially if you have an eBay store, and get a certain amount of free shipping boxes, etc. quarterly, as part of your store subscription. I hope that helps up front with keeping the negative feedback down.

They still wanted it. Got glowing positive feedback. I always think it is best to give the buyer a choice. That way they don't feel like a choice has been forced on them. I think I would have gotten a negative if I just cancled. They may have wanted the shirt even with the stain, especially if it had some type of logo on it. I had a customer before that left me a negative feedback when it arrived 1 day later than the "Estimated" date ebay had. I looked at the customer's feedback left for others and 85% were negatives. Clearly an unhappy person and taking it out on others. Another customer left a negative feedback about an item that was clearly lost. He called me a scammer that never shipped his item although it clearly shows tracking all the way to the customer's state. When I offered the customer a reship or refund .He said that proves it. Only a scammer will offer to reship or refund. What? Ebay removed them both. I used the have ebay call you option in the help section. I then posted these customers on the badbuyers forums.

Kevin. I feel your pain on the feedbacks, i had a perfect record. I always do make things right if its my fault. I sold an item going to Buffalo N.Y it sat there for 30 days before it came back to me. I was blown away. Now this sold with Priority mail, everything showed priority mail on now i didn't pay attention to the label. They are always right. Well this had a first class label on it. How thar happen is beyond me. The ad showed priority mail the whole thing but it printed a first class label i had no idea . when i looked at it i saw the customers name and address all was good and mailed it. Now this was in Buffalo 30 plus days. The old days the post office would have delivered it and charge me the difference. But no 30 plus days went by. So i contacted the buyers explained how it was so close to her and 30 days it got returned..so i fixed it mind you this account item is now well over a month. So i got the correct label and remailed it 2 days priority shipping. So by now i have lost money because i couldn't not recover my money on the first class label. And i reached out to the buyer over and over with no response. So she got it and sent message, Finally. Well because of all this headache i got a negative feedback after she received it for the 2nd time stating never received. I again reached out see if i can get her to change it no luck . she stuck to me. So i lost that one. But usually i have pretty good luck with eBay helping . of course if u yell and scream you won't get to far. But they have always taken my side on every issue. I couldn't even respond to the negative feedback because 30 plus late. Thats the post offices fault. So the U.S post office screwed me as well. So i just have to let it run its course it will be taken off sometime in the future. I never had anything happen like this WOW. So i feel your pain. And it never hurts my sales. It the one i have. So thanks for sharing my friend.

Thanks Kevin, good to open this dialog. I’ve had 3 attempts to give me negative feedback, and I’ve been successful in getting the buyer or ebay business to remove them. I did have to give refunds, and one without verification of the item being damaged, but I think for a $15 sale it was worth it to keep the 100% positive feedback intact. I know that it won’t last forever, and am prepared to answer any feedback that I feel is unjustified. But let’s talk about the elephant in the room. There are buyers out there with hundred of positive feedback, but if you read them, they are many if not all negative comments. It is completely unfair to sellers to disallow us to give negative feedback to a buyer. It’s like saying they’re justifying their behavior and they’re never wrong. 😏

Kevin, thanks for talking me off the ledge. After over 20 years of selling on and off (a lot recently), I got my first negative and a bonus request for return. Ebay didn't allow the rating I think because I offered the return with paid shipping (small, low cost electronics claimed to not match description - not working). The item was never returned. Two more return requests later and I was getting paranoid about offering vintage electronics. Both were returned in working condition but had cosmetic damage from the return shipment (heavy items loose in box with wadded up newspapers or loose bubble wrap). Ebay has taken care of the last one due to the shipping damage. When I asked how to best prevent these issues in the future, the CSR said I was doing everything I could do already. Get a grip on how to leave feedback. Ebay refused to remove and I’m still furious about it as it’s my only negative feedback in a long time. I fought it and only got automated responses each time. Yep, definitely cool down before dealing with feedback. I was mad at a girl that was blowing up my messages over getting 1 brow gel instead of 2. It was in the shade number "2". One in the photos, stated one in the description, the description and item specifics stated "shade 2". She left negative feedback and in an attempt to have eBay remove it I typed a message with something along the lines of "it isn't my fault that the girl can't read". I had never requested feedback removal before so I didn't realize eBay was sending that message TO THE BUYER. So needless to say, that feedback wasn't removed lol On the 3 platforms I sell, I've received all kinds of crazy negative feedback. I've learned to just ignore it. I've only had 1 instance out of thousands of sales that my few negative were brought up by a potential buyer, but I'm sure she would've ended up being hard to deal with also.

I think that's why it's very important to described your items correctly and cover yourself as much as you can. Every negative feedback I've received I've had removed. Not by reporting it as that does nothing but actually contacting Ebay. I just sold an antique item and put in the description that it had a strong musty smell. Customer received it and opened a return that it was musty which I declined. Next day I got a negative feedback stating they received Biohazard! LOL Messaged Ebay and had it removed without question. But yes if I messed up I will contact the buyer and try to please them. And then also ask if they would be kind enough to revise my feedback. That has worked also. I think one of the big problems is people do not read the description which makes zero sense to me. I don't have much sympathy for those people. But you have to remain polite and courteous even if you want to tear them a new one. I seen a video from a seller once and when he sells new items sealed in the box he still lists it as used as he is unable to test it fully. Sells it for display only. That might be a way to cover yourself on new items? Just a thought

It scared her 2 year old granddaughter. Her story (made up to get a partial refund) concluded that I pulled it out of this fictional closet to rip some one off a precisely the time she decided to buy one. If I could offer a partial refund, her husband would fix it and they would keep it. I said no, no refunds or returns as the listing said. She didn't get to keep the Elmo at a lower price poor granddaughter was out the Elmo I got the negative feedback nobody's happy I showed eBay everything they still would not take the negative feedback off even after I refunded everything.

I think the feedback system is antiquated they should not be allowed to leave negative feedback on a seller that works the issues out it’s just vindictive

ebay for business on facebook is the place to go when any issues comes up...they have helped me close atleast two cases and sided with me the day after sending them a messege thru facebook....get the fastest and better results thru their messeging.

Is there a way to get someone to leave feedback? I have sold 1 thing on ebay and they received it almost 3 weeks ago but never left feedback.
@commonwealthflipper4 жыл бұрын
You can send them a message and ask. Most people don't leave feedback.
@amandabrown3404 жыл бұрын
@@commonwealthflipper good to know. Anytime I have purchased from eBay I have always been sure to leave feedback as a courtesy. I plan to sell more in the future once I get my store up and running so I am not to worried about it.
@jamesw.34914 жыл бұрын
@@amandabrown340 DO NOT ask for feedback. You may end up getting neutral or negative feedback. Instead, leave a nice note in their package thanking them for the purchase, to contact you if there are any problems, and that you would appreciate their 5 star positive feedback. Get used to not getting feedback. I'm fortunate to get 10% of buyers to leave it.
@amandabrown3404 жыл бұрын
@@jamesw.3491 I will for sure do this from now on. Honestly I would rather no feedback then negative or neutral, but they bought a brand new non electronic product so I dont think there would be any reason for negative or neutral.

As a part time seller I have noticed quite a few issues with shipping delays and panicked buyers. I recently had a buyer threaten me with a 1 Star review if I didn’t immediately locate their package that USPS showed delivered. I waited to respond so I could cool off because my gut reaction was not very lady like. The package showed up the following day. Blocked the buyer, what are your thoughts on blocking people?

Kevin, I am a long time buyer on ebay and have been selling for the past few years now. For myself, I usually don't buy from a seller that has over 2 negatives within a short time. If the seller has many neutrals and negatives, I tend to stay away UNLESS the item is something I really, really want.
@agood1004 жыл бұрын
Kevin, can you explain where on eBay for Business on Facebook is and how to get feedback removed? I am on the page, but I only see where I can send them a message. (Thanks for the Eneman recently, as well!) Much appreciated!
@commonwealthflipper4 жыл бұрын
Thats how you do it. Send them a message with you email attatched to ebay and the item number etc.

I have found if I send my user name, email address and zip code along with the transaction number, I get resolution much quicker alleviating a lot of back and forth through messenger.

Hey Kevin how do you leave a comment under the negative feedback you receive? There doesn't seem to be an option to do so anymore. I received my 1st negative FB on eBay in years from a customer who refused to return the item, threatened to leave neg FB if I do not refund them and eBay still refused to remove it and then to top it off the buyer has sent to emails stating that's what I get for not refunding them. eBay is starting to a lot like Amazon lately. Any info would be greatly appreciated be, thanks.

That’s feedback extortion. Call eBay, they’ll remove it.

I agree..As soon as the buyer threatens to leave neg. Fb or else... it becomes feedback extortion. Ebay will remove the neg.

Please help me out here, as soon as buyers pay, I give them positive feedback.I ship my sold items the same, or the next, then I contact the buyer and let them know, their order has been shipped, I well wrapped and pack the items, nothing has been damaged ever, but God, from 20 sales one leaves a feedback, it really borders me, what am I doing wrong? So far I have 60 feedback, and %100 positive, what can I do better? I use thank you stickers, and cards too! I am out of ideas. HELP PLEASE!

Only leave feedback after they leave feedback. Once something sells I pack and ship. No other contact to buyer.

I find it funny how you could ship out 1000 items with no problem but the 1 guy with no feedback is the guy that "didn't receive the item" even though USPS says he did. Hes the one guy who opened the box to find nothing was in it. Hes the guy who got the new in the box item and found it wasnt working. Gotta love Ebay.
@brianklaus24684 жыл бұрын
Ha, yeah guilty of taking it personally! My business EBay has 14,500 postitive feedback and I’ve been so tenacious about it that I’ve only had two negatives that weren’t reversed I even get upset at neutral

Ha. That's awesome. I just can't find the time or energy to get that upset I guess.

i dont think ive bought from a seller that had no negative and no neutral feedbacks...negative/neutral feedbacks dont scare me from buying...its the feedback that is left for the seller and the feedback that the seller give to the buyers is what i take into consideration...and as long as the seller has atleast a 90% seller rating.

What’s up with ebays new feedback I had someone leave negative feedback in a full paragraph 🤦♀️ they got pissed the envelope got destroyed (it got destroyed from the weather, probably got rained on or dropped in water) the item was in perfect condition but the FREE items I sent were destroyed! Spewing some shit about I wouldn’t refund them if the item got destroyed and I would blame them? Wtf putting words in my mouth. Making some fake scenario that didnt even happen just saying that if it happened I would blame them. I don’t even care about removing it, they sound like a fool. I called them nasty person, blocked them and told them I would warn others. 🤡

So far I have not had any negative feedback. I have been lucky enough to work with anyone that has had a problem. Yes I have had a few things go wrong...I sent the wrong item and sent the correct item plus let them keep the incorrect one. I have had several things arrive broken and gave a full refund. I have also had a couple that I think may have been scammers. One said something was missing out of the package and another after asking questions before buying complained about those same things after they were told about it. I ended up giving both a partial refund. I still made some money on both. The one that had the missing item even became a repeat buyer. I am just shy of 3400 feedback but should be more like 6000 since a lot of people don't leave feedback but it is what it is. I will say this....I do not like to sell electronics or glass. Not saying I won't, just don't like to. I have had way too many issues with electronics. So that one is all yours. Maybe I should sell you all my electronics. Haha

eBay's feedback is totally meaningless. For example: I bought some topaz from someone on eBay and after testing it, it proved to be quartz (Mohs hardness & specific gravity). This is one of those listings where the are multiple items available. I contacted the seller and told him about the quartz - he did nothing to the listing. He is still, knowingly, ripping people off by selling this stuff as the more expensive topaz. So, I posted negative feedback explaining this. The seller called eBay and simply asked to have my feedback removed. In my opinion, that makes eBay complicit in fraud. I don't think they care - they're getting their commission & that's all that matters to them.
